Well, I don't trust this Victor Muller guy one but. His track record is abonimable. He first fired Maarten de Bruijn, who was the designer of the Spyker cars and the founder of the company because Maarten Maarten had a more conservative idea about money making than Victor had. Then Victor started a Formula 1 adventure that drove Spyker to the edge of bankrupty. And now he has borrowed 400 million euros to buy Saab, an amount of money he will never be able to pay back if you ask me. He has no experience at all in running a large car factory either. I will not be surprised if both Saab and Spyker are dead half a year from now. That would be devastating because both company make truly unique cars that touch the hearts of many people. For more information you can look up the Dutch and English entries in Wikipedia for Spyker Cars and references therein.
I love the awesome bar. I only have to type a 'w' and I get the weather page I always watch. I type a 'b' and I get the 'buienradar' (shower radar) where I can see when the rain will start. It knows I use these pages often so it puts them on top of the list of suggestions. Even on a freshly installed firefox I hardly ever have to use the 'bookmarks' drop-down menu. Awesome!
I don't get it. We've had these things in the Netherlands for years now. Before the electric verions became en vogue, we had them with tiny petrol engines fitted that powered the rear wheel. The electric ones are much better because they don't pollute their surroundings with noise and gases.
We will earn shitloads of money in the coming decades, building dikes and other stuff for other countries. If I had to choose a study now I would go to Delft, where all the relevant education concerning that is given.
That is not metal; it's a pair of plastic strips glued to the aquarium to make it look better and to support the lamphouse. If you look closely you can see the glass of the aquarium crack in the corner where he hits it. It would have been cool if he broke the aquarium too:)
It's been shown in several studies that car kits are not much less unsafe than using a moblie phone while driving. Introducing even more communication equipment in cars will only lead to more deaths. And do you really need to follow Twitter while you drive? I think it would be a good idea to forbid cars with this kind of equipment on board, or make the equipment stop working while the car is driving.
It's often not about the knowledge published in the publications, but about the way the scientists do the research. And a publication can make very difficult things seem very easy. You often need the scientists involved in the research to replicate the results.
That doesn't have to be the case. When I worked as a Post-Doc in Utrecht, the Netherlands, in 2000, we had a Chinese co-worker who just got his Ph.D. and was working also as a post-doc. He got a letter from the Chinese authorities in which he was invited to come back to China. He was promised a job as a professor at a university there. I don't remember wether he went there to have a look before he moved, but after he moved we got a heartbreaking email from his wife who told us that this so-called 'professorship' didn't exist, and the authorities had given them room to live in a house together with 9(!) other families. This was a big setback for her, being used to the standard of living here in NL. Her husband had a better job here than he had gotten in China. And of course there was no way this poor guy and his family were allowed to come back to the Netherlands. I wouldn't be surprised if this happens a lot with Chinese people who are drawn back to China by their government.
It's not only the US that treats its Ph.D. students like that. Here in NL (and I think in most of the rest of Europe as well) it's the same. Besides, in most companies scientists are paid much less than for instance the marketing people.
Then do something about it instead of moaning about it here. Go re-elect Bush or something. We've had global warming discussions here so many times it's boring now.
By YOUR definition, the cultures that lose are 'lesser.' And those cultures losing has nothing to do with natural selection and/or evolution either. If that were true then the dying out of many plant- and animal species due to the destruction of their habitats by humans would also be natural selection or evolution.
IMO that was the most brilliant thing about the movie: it showed in a very direct and convincing way how the people with the best weapons justified their actions, and what the impact of their actions was on the local people. And it's not only the killing of native Americans that this movie is about, but ALL the atrocities the Western people have inflicted upon the peoples they colonized and exploited over the centuries.

Is Chuck Norris the Healthiest Man in Chicago?
Chances of that are slim considering that the creature in question will be held domestically, and has died out only 383 years ago.

Don't forget the journal usually charges you 100 US$ per page for publishing it.
The only thing that can made the RIAA dinosaurs die out is a meteor on their headquarters.

She looks like she is suffocating. That turns me off big time.

Indeed. I'm now at -1, which is ridiculous IMO.
That's what I get for not bothering to check... thanks AC and jocknerd.

That's exactly what I meant but the 7334 h@xorz @ /. don't know there is more than technical stuff on this planet. ;)
"Rumours" is a nice album by Fleetwood Mac, brought out in the eurly 1980s. That is the only one to take seriously.
Yes yes, we know it already. All climate specialists are crackpots who only serve their own agenda. Can we please stop about global warming here on /.?

You and Toonol are right. It's not only Western peoples that do it.

Then I replied to the wrong post. Sorry about that.
