Naming a company after yourself is the smartest thing you can do. That way, it's harder for the board to try to oust you from the company! Who can imagine a Dell without Michael at the helm or a McDonald's without Ronald as CEO? Of course, it didn't work for Carl Karcher, but you get the point.
Can someone from Australia tell us why there's always some sort of privacy abuse or internet racket going on there? Is it usually coming from one company (Telstra?) or is it corporate culture at all net companies?
Normally, most companies (including Apple until now) had a policy where all easter eggs had to be reported and approved. Often times the easter eggs introduce bugs and instability into the program and have to be thoroughly tested.
Aliens were also discovered today on these planets. The extraterrestrial life forms speak with very high-pitched voices and prohibit any sort of smoking.
I wonder if download.com as an entity is as responsible for this as one lone employee working unsupervised at CNet who thought to himself, gee this is kewl, maybe I should post it...
They'd hire these guys to work on a new DVD encryption solution. Or even if that's impossible at this point, they'll find some way to make their skills useful to the industry instead of chasing their asses in court.
Posting on slashdot is more akin to putting yourself in front of the camera, IMO. This is a very public forum, and to act surprised when someone else has read and quoted you would just be fooling yourself into thinking what? That slashdot is a private gathering? C'mon.
I don't think they need to ask your permission any more than a roaming reporter needs to ask permission to quote someone on the street. If something you said on the street popped up on the 4 o'clock news, would you still feel offended?
The initial premiere of Princess Mononoke is supposed to be limited to select theaters, but Disney announced that it's eventually going to play at 1000 theaters. Of course, they said that a year ago at a panel, so I don't know if they forgot they said that by now or something...
Also, Grave of the Fireflies was already snapped up by Central Park Media before Disney inked the 9-film deal with Studio Ghibli, and was already released with subtitles by CPM, so there you have it.
Try Porco Rosso. The art and animation weren't nearly as good, but I thought it was a much better story by Miyazaki. Oh, and another great from Studio Ghibli is Grave of the Fireflies. Roger Ebert said it was the only animated movie that ever made him cry.
I was there too, and it was my first time actually seeing the man in person. I had to say, in the Q&A after the movie, I was really impressed with how down-to-earth and matter-of-fact the guy was.
If you guys are looking for the movie Princess Mononoke now, it just had a limited premiere last week at about a dozen locations across the US and is slated to go to ~1000 theaters soon.
Thing is, many Mac gamers such as myself were willing to buy even a crippled version of Half-Life. I didn't care if Team Fortress Classic was on there. I was even able to live without the Windows multi-player compatibility. Why? Because the single-player game itself was so good! Please! If anyone at Valve is reading this, please reconsider!
Looks like if you put a fake score in your subject, it deletes the header on the comment... Hmm...
Testing, testing...

Now if only they'd announce when the Mac version is coming...

Wait, where's my receipts? Hmm. $0.70 here, $1.20 there... Somehow I don't think I'll be participating in the class-action lawsuit.
"If you really should have some troubles one time, then the electronical and intelligent assistant "Mr.James" will help you. "
That in itself kinda pigeonholes Xetos and what market it's directed at, doncha think?

Johnson, your carelessness caused us to lose a year's worth of critical data!
But sir, I just got a little scratch on our backup disk! We can recover it with a CD scratch remover!
... but wasn't NT a joint venture between Microsoft and IBM? That's what I'd always thought, and that OS/2 was the other offspring of the project.
I thought you were asking what the official computer sound was.

If they ever made a powered snotbot.

I almost made a killing on eBay selling my moon property, and now you had to inform everyone. Thanks a bunch.

Hey guys. I'm just attaching this here since it's near the top. There's a petition going on to save Half Life at Demand Mac.

What I wanna know is, can they come up with a way to make Britney Spears' lip-synching more realistic?
