As an added bonus, these aborted fetuses can be used for scientific research, and in some cases, can be repurposed as a healthy food source for our nation's underprivileged.
I never saw any of the Lord of the Ring movies because of this crap. My CD collection has been pretty much stagnent for quite some time, by that I mean years. So I haven't gone to the movies and I haven't bought CDs. The day I saw episode 1, 2, and 3 of Star Wars was when I bought the DVD pack at the store a few months ago. Not the theatre. There I put up.
The odd thing for it is I've saved quite a bit of cash by doing this. As for music I listen to a net radio station till the shut those all down. I've been eye'n the music store lately, not the CD shop, the one that sells flutes, drums, etc. Maybe I'll take up flute playing agian and make the dogs in my area howl for how badly I'll play.

I avoid Dell because of the 3 hour support calls I had for my laptop to replace the LCD screen while it was still under warranty. Apparently my first attempt at getting help got me sent to a department where the operator screamed in panic at me that they were under attack by a virus and couldn't help me, another attempt had me figuring out hindi, and finally I got a hold of someone who could help me at the three hour mark.
Depends on the the work, but being behind a desk all day coding or maintaining a server could put the snooze on anyone. Coding is a bit more active but still your there doing not much physical activity and more brain work.
I know there were times I was studying for homework and/or exams when I was in college and reading text books would put me to sleep. IT work is no different I think, people need to get up and move around and process all they're doing before going back at it so to speak.
Even a little horse play doesn't hurt to take your mind off the work to relax and process things. You come back at it with a fresher perspective. For me, I'm in the middle of a rubber band war in my cubical between a web guy and a server admin. They're just lucky a rubber band hasn't landed in my food during lunch. I have no problems spending a little extra new found cash at the appropriate arms dealer. >:)
It's about damn time we don't give up our principles for security. Glad to see someone in the three branches of government finally standing up for whats right. I don't want security in my country if it gives my government a blank check to do whatever it pleases. We all know what could happen down the road if governments get too much control and decide they could do what they like.
That could very well be in our future if we write blank checks for terrorism prevention. Lets keep our own house in order so when we go to clean up someone elses house we don't look like fools.
Nothing more annoying than a bunch of clueless journalists trying to drum up an anecdotal case as the beginning of a new grandiose trend that will possibly change our lives.
If it gets people interested in science and astronomy, who cares? At least galaxies are easier to drum up then say someone working with feces in other industries. I bet their marketing department has a stinker of a time doing PR for those jobs.
Whenever I ran out of screws for my drives in the drive bays, good ol' gum was there to save the day! I guess I'll have to go back to paper clip drive mounting.
That utility has obtained patches that Windows Update indicated were already installed but wasn't. This utility has saved a lot of headaches. Really sorry to see it go like that.
Thats the thing, not everyone has the background to fully digest the content of this story. It would be great if more people who understood this stories content posted more information here but I do enjoy some of the funny comments. Defrag'n the universe and the sock comments were enough to give me a good chuckle.
I myself don't know enough about astronomy and math to fully appreciate this story, I do love reading about it though. Still two things entered my mind when I first read over it:
1> Oh god, pissed off fuel rocks are blowing up stars from the core of the universe and we haven't even left our own planets orbital path as a species in maned space flight.
2> Where the hell is William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy?? There's a freak'n giant one celled organism in that void gobbling up everything!
Once the factual information stops, my mind starts to roam about.
To top it all off the ankle bracelet he has to wear will look like the Office 2007 ribbon toolbar. A portable Clippy resides in the button incase he breaks curfew.

I'm sorry, some people will flat out disagree but it sucks. Reasons I think it sucks and I'm going out and getting a copy of XP before they totally yank it is as follows:
* 0x80073712 error in doing updates. I've ran in to this problem and did the registry fix to remove StoreDirty, cleaned out the update download directory, and threw up a voodoo doll on the machine to get Windows Updates to install. From what I've read on their forums and other sites I got as results from my Googling, repair install or reinstall is about the only fix.
* Video drivers, I'm still waiting on a 7900gtx nvidia driver that works properly. I'm not at all happy with Vista's performance and driver compatabilities. I spent over $300 on that card FOR VISTA. Why the hell ain't it working properly on my games which aren't even DX10 games. This is more of an Nvidia problem but it just adds another reason for me to not like Vista.
* Renaming everything. Jesus christ I can't find Add/Remove Programs because it was changed to something else. Consistancy for god sake people! I seriously feel like I did after I first installed a copy of Linux, which runs great, but I had this lost feeling and no clue where anything was.
XP may have had more holes in it but it just WORKED. I can't say the same for Vista at all.
At the same time, I was unable to find any mention of protection for the craft from micrometeorites and space debris. An inflatable structure will be at greater risk of catastrophic failure from micropunctures than would a traditional aluminum/titanium shell.
On all the computers that I'll be fixing at my job. Oh boy was I in for a treat. My game machine has never run worse. An earlier poster mentioned the Nvidia driver issue and thats going full tilt on my computer. I had to shut off Aero to get better game performance and on a dual core 3ghz machine with 4 gigs of ram and a 7900gtx nvidia card which all in all was a nice chunk of change to put together I should be getting more then 20-30fps and not have missing textures now and then. The games I'm running aren't brand new either and the drivers are all up to date. I miss XP and I really wish everything would just run on Linux, games and all.
I say offend people, especially if these events did happen (holocaust, crusades, etc). You should however present the whole picture in your lesson but you'll never please everyone so people will just have to deal with it.
Better to offend a few religious people then to have history repeat itself? Right? I think so, I mean look at Vietnam and Iraq. Whoops, did I say that out loud?
Hate to tell you but thats already happening with in game currency sails. Blizzard Entertainment I heard by word of mouth is fixing their trial accounts to prevent spamming more. Trial accounts won't get whisper and mail features in game. I didn't check the latest patch notes for WoW, but thats the latest I heard. Not sure whats happening in other games cause I can only justify paying to play one MMORPG at a time.
I don't know all the details but I remember hearing how the holodeck works. I do remember that part of the process was to use some kind of a force field to generate the actual feel of things. Maybe this could lead to that. *shrug*
Seriously, I spend enough time cleaning out that Winfixer, Vundo, W32.spybot, SpyAxe, and AIM virus infections from college student computers at work. While thats job security for me I'd rather see the people that make this crap hang for all the frustration, down time, and expense these things cause.
It's better to not encourage profit making from games like WoW but more so in Second Life where they actually let you sell the IP you make in game. I've seen too many people I've made friends with in WoW get their accounts compromised and their virtual goods stolen where they never had any intent of doing anything but having fun. I think something should be done more to discourage people from making real money in games and things they shouldn't be in the first place.

Won't help in keeping the place clean of dibris that could do it either.

I will laugh if iD got tired of waiting for Duke Nuke'm Forever and decided to do it themselves.
But I found that instant messenger programs are WAY more intrusive and to me I concider IM's dead.
