    To be fair, I didn't see anything from them saying that everyone should go out and implement this right now. They are going to reverse engineer it to understand what is going on, and once they do, I'm sure they'll only propositions implementations after that based on their findings.

    Feminist objection to this has nothing to do with them being sexy. It has to do with them being objectified, which means being denied agency. In other words, their primary role is there to look sexy to promote a product--of which they likely have not been trained on because they are only expected to bring in attention. They are denied their humanity beyond being sexy.

    I'd love it if we found out that antimatter falls upwards, but I'd be even more interested if anyone could conjecture on what that would mean.

    Could that mean that antimatter warps space in the opposite direction as matter so that it has a repelling affect?

    It would be a huge upset if they did.

    Actually, I'm pretty sure a lot of them would have the opposite reactions. When the Higgs Boson was finally found, a lot of physicists were actually disappointed because it meant there wasn't really much in the way of new physics to be discovered.

    I really wish that we would test out some technologies for diverting large asteroids so that we're not trying to scramble at the last minute when we realize something large is coming our way. I'd like to know for certain that we'll be ready for when we see something coming our way that could cause us some serious pain or even extinction.

    Then you haven't been to very many Walgreens. They're pretty varied in size. Generally they're all going to be much smaller than Wal-mart or some other big box store, but many of the ones I've been to have been pretty well stocked, and at least as large as any CVS--a few a bit larger.

    You're right, no one needs to be protected from bad media, but shouldn't the media (which is comprised of human beings) strive to do better when it's pointed out that what they're doing is shitty?

    Sure, you can be a racist, misogynistic asshole, and no one needs to be protected from that, but don't you want to not be an asshole?

    Sometimes the point isn't about protecting someone from the "bad media," but rather pointing out shitty things being said/done in hopes that those people will be a little self-reflective, and decide not to be a piece of shit.

    Sure, that could be part of it, but I think a careful reading would show that there were a number of things missing from Wayland that they wanted, and there were a number of things that would have required some heavy patching to get what they wanted, which probably wouldn't have been any better than starting anew anyway. This way they also don't have to worry about whether or not their patches get accepted upstream.

    I guess they could have forked Wayland, but if they're not going to use most of that code anyway, what would be the point?

    Sorry, liberals don't like it when the churches do things like "donating free space" to help people. They throw hissy fits, and start screaming about a separation of church and state. Well at least they do in the US, never mind that in Canada that churches and synagogues have been doing this up here for the better part of a decade already and it's open to the public.

    We only care when government money is used to maintain such services, or are the only places for those public services to be available.

    How comfortable would you be if the only place in your town that had free internet was a mosque?
