the P4 is already asynch like you're describing, or at least was.. the integer units ran at 2x external clockspeed on the first versions, from what I remember
However, I believe the GP was referring to 'clockless' CPUs, though I might be wrong.
see, I mistyped that. I meant to say "I turn on the computer. I go to the bathroom. I come back, login, I get up and go get a drink, then when I come back it's ready to use."
PEBKAC made it so half of that was lost. I blame the K.
what he meant was let's say apple forked KHTML. Added text-to-speech code, and updated their CVS tree, so it's now at version 2. later found out that their method they developed internally infringed on patents, so in version 3 it was gone again. Releasing the 'history' of that would release code that is patent encumbered under the GPL and would NOT be good. It was never in a binary that was released to public, so it has no requirements to be under the GPL.
I realize the topic's likely dead, but could you clarify if this is correct, if you read this:
USB has a global limit of 127. Firewire has a limit of 63 per bus. That is.. you can daisy chain 63 firewire devices, if you had two firewire ports on your computer, depending on how it was setup internally, ou could have 126 devices.
USB, however, does not support daisy chaining.. each hub will NOT support 127 devices, as far as I know?
I don't see this at all. so, my system gets me a graphical login prompt in 10 seconds as opposed to 30. I log in. Now KDE starts. I wait in both instances, except now my KDE startup takes longer because it's doing other crap in the background.
I turn on the computer. I go to the bathroom. I get up and go get a drink, and when I come back it's ready to use. You can't remove both delays, and you're just hiding one in the other. It's pointless.
An anyway, doesn't ubuntu already do this, somewhat? I've turned on my computer and tried to login, only to be told I couldn't as the system was still starting up. THEN WHY DID YOU ASK ME TO LOGIN?!
firewire can be chained, as well. So plug in one mini mate, and from that plug in one or two more, etc..:) I think there's a limit of 8 devices per firewire chain.. not sure on that though.
(Note: you need to connect both to get the hub functionality of that protocol, but only one if you want the HD and/or only one protocol. So, if you only care about USB, hook up only USB. Might as well hook up firewire as well since it's probably better for high speed HD's, and even if it's not (it's debateable), if all you wanted was USB, then now you have more USB bandwidth because the HD is going over firewire.)
A bunch of cameras are coming out with USB 2.0 ports, so the lackeys at CompUSA told me. They couldn't SHOW me one, because they're idiots, but they insist that firewire camcorders are dead and USB 2.0 is the new hotness.
And if you want it to refresh the view you're in, do NOT hit F5. It's F9, for some unknown fucking reason. F5 locks Lotus Notes, so now you need a pw to unlock it.
most portable devices that have detachable cables at the slave device end (cameras, cellphones) will use a miniature usb connection to make sure you don't screw up the cable alignment, and to make the plug smaller on the device that's portable and can't afford space. on the mater/host side, it has to support the standard large USB plugs.
The USB/regular power plug on the motorola is quite tiny, just as it needs to be, for a phone like this. Most cell phones have a plug that is much larger than this because they useproprietary data lines and connection methods to the phone. My other two phones have plugs that are at least 4x as wide a the single plug available on the razr.
usb provides the power specification, the cell phone would conform to the USB spec instead of the other way around.
That being said, the RazrV3 has the OPTION of charging off of USB. If the phone is dead it WILL NOT. This is because USB needs a signal negotiation before it will deliver the higher power available on USB 2.0. If the phone is dead, such negotiation is impossible. This is part of the reason that it's not done on more models.
Strangely, my Razr didn't come with a USB cable. It came with a regular wall plug. I don't need the USB (all my computers have bluetooth), but I was kind of surprised by this.
Some of them make the fact that they're gaming comic websites a bit more known, sure. But all those sites I go to primarily for the comics. All of them don't have the full comic on the front page.
Now, clanbob (specifically the life of riley) comic ISN'T the entire focus of the site. it's just a bunch of friends, one of them happens to draw a comic. The others use it for whatever they want, as far as I can tell. But penny-arcade has a link to the comic in each of tycho's posts about it, and a 'Latest Comic' link right at the top. It's fair to include all of these as being similar, I think.
Rez! I bought a PS2, and Rez (the special version), just for that game. And then I couldn't find anyone to mod my PS2, so I still have yet to play it much.. need to buy a Japanese PS2 now, but oh well. It's worth it, I love that game!
it's the same with video games and movies. The more realistic something becomes, the more our brain gets confused. So many people didn't like the final fantasy movie because it bothered them that they looked human, but acted wrong at times. That's why most completely computer generated things are done in quite a comic fashion. They COULD come much closer to approximating people, but then you get bothered by it.
Seeing a bipedal, human size robot would do the same. R2D2 is a moving machine, but not human shaped. However with that comes all of the stigmas. No one converses with their vacuum cleaner, and I've got something down in the basement with a bit of paint would look pretty close to R2D2. So for robots to become a 'natural' part of society, they need to become more like us. For better or for worse.
Plus, it's a neat engineering feat, and interesting psychology to see how people do react to them.
Because my hope is that with it will come kde's ioslaves, and I absolutely love that concept. Install an ioslave, and all of a sudden every kde program knows how to do sftp, smb, whatever. I could maybe find a way to mount http (webdav), ftp, sftp, whatever to my normal tree, but being able to browse in any file window for sftp://me@server/ is just so useful (to me) it's not even funny.
That and I find myself consistently annoyed by various things about windows: single entry clipboard, lack of "Always on top" on every window, no window shading, application-based keyboard layout setting (seriously, what the hell. It changes my global keyboard shortcuts like windows+L for lock/logout depending on what keyboard layout I'm in in the current program. GLOBAL keyboard shortcuts. grr.)
Most of those are just the way windows works, and they probably won't follow KDE over if/when it comes to windows fully (I sometimes run the kde/cygwin port, which does all this I believe, but has to run an X server for it. Nothing at all like what you'd get from running a real kde/windows port.. which probably won't end up managing its own clipboard, keyboard layout, window manager, etc..)
Notice the timestamps are only one minute apart to the post above mine. Not intentionally redundant here, just ignore this post and go to the one above..:)
(a) Making of Additional Copy or Adaptation by Owner of Copy.-- Notwithstanding the provisions of section 106, it is not an infringement for the owner of a copy of a computer program to make or authorize the making of another copy or adaptation of that computer program provided: (1) that such a new copy or adaptation is created as an essential step in the utilization of the computer program in conjunction with a machine and that it is used in no other manner, or (2) that such new copy or adaptation is for archival purposes only and that all archival copies are destroyed in the event that continued possession of the computer program should cease to be rightful. (emphasis from the article)
Ok, so why can't it be under section 1? Making the copy of the game is essential since I no longer own a Commodore 64, NES, SNES or whatever, even though the games are all sitting on the shelf behind me.
I was thinking about the iPod with Bluetooth. I own a Prius which uses a very similar system to the Lexus I believe (why not, same company..). I don't have a bluetooth phone, but I'm under the impression that it can sync in handsfree mode, or OBEX (to transfer schedule, phonebook). There's no profile to support streaming stereo sound to all the speakers, as far as I know. Based on the way the system acts when I have voice guidance enabled, I doubt that my phone conversation will come out of anything but the left speaker -- I don't think the nav/bt system is hooked up to anything other than that.
That's not at all like how I read it. What I think they're saying is that there are still a few, ever decreasing number of developers that are developing the games they want to see, and that they're doing it so that other game developers/gamers would like it.
Meanwhile, you have joe consumer who comes along and has been fed only the big franchise games, and hates this game that is by gamers, for gamers.
Essentially, think of it like indie music or movies. They're doing it for themselves, or for their friends, or whatever. It might be nice if it gets popular and makes them millions, but that's not what they're aiming for.. otherwise they'd sell out, get some big name studio to turn it in to the same crap that everyone else is, and then they'd have their money and their fame and none of their integrity or self-respect.
So, why now must all game developers cater to the mainstream masses and just turn out the same iterative crap as everyone else?

because Safari uses KHTML internally as its rendering engine.

Anyone else find it funny that Romero is yet again associated with Doom? It's obviously a different person, but what a coincidence in names.
in binary. none of that hex crap.

single white male w/ body odor?
You don't know many, eh?

Put more than 128mb ram in there, for crying out loud. My 750 does just fine with Windows XP.

Hey, welcome to Japanese and Chinese. And several other languages. It's only so confusing because it's not the way you're accustomed to seeing it.
