Doom doesn't use the techniques described - its a single host sending messages out to many clients. The patent claims appear to be about multi-server configurations and reducing network traffic in such environments.
Both seem to be about collecting a number of messages together and sending them as one parcel to a host in order to reduce the amount of network traffic and also to ensure that each host on a local group receives an update at an approximately similar time. Its a little like receiving a digest of messages periodically instead of getting them one at a time.
The US Patent server appears to be a little Slashdotted at the moment - I keep getting Maximum Number of Users reached messages.
Looks like the clock on my mom's 15 year old oven. Also looks like the display on a 10-15 year old VCR
Sounds like an excuse for the oven or microwave to "malfunction" so you can scavenge it for parts....
CDs and DVDs have been proven to be unreliable, electronic devices won't last that long, paper is prone to water ingress, so go back to ancient tech which you know survives... its the only way to be sure.
..than to arrive.
The game is a simulation of "real" life, and in real life much of your time is spent stuck on the highway. I wonder why MMOs don't have traffic jams and why WoW doesn't have a shortage of rental animals for transporation, just like the real world
I was under the impression that ITER was effectively the prelude to full scale fusion, and it was effectively just a scale up from previous designs to see if sustainable fusion was possible. This article makes it look as though fundamental problems remain unresolved; hardly reassuring when you're building a full scale unit with such major issues like what you're going to build the damn thing out of.
I apologise for being a little behind the curve here, but can someone tell me if laptop graphics cards have standard sizes and interfaces nowadays, preferably with useful links? I always thought laptops were more of a custom build than your everyday PC.
..that this case is not a matter of whether Jammie Thomas is guilty or innocent (because I quite frankly have a negative opinion on this), but what legal standards should determine guilt or innocence, and I certainly feel the current standards fall short of high quality.
I feel it's a little like Miranda, who was a thoroughly disreputable guy, but who got off in the wider interests of setting up future evidence and policing standards.
As a result of reading your post, the "central nervous system-stimulant-laden liquids of temperatures approaching gradual evaporation adapted to both manipulation and imbibation for the purposes of maximum early-hours alertness and/or circadian rhythm modulation" which I happened to be ingesting at the time ended up all over my keyboard
As you've stated, there is much prior art for that also, many JavaScript routines exist which perform this task, simply using onChange to validate the next input character and refuse to accept it in the event that the current state of the string fails to match the regex.
A lot of "court of first instance cases" in many countries come up with ridiculous verdicts; it is for that reason that most countries have a multi tier appeal route to ensure that such decisions get trashed and judgements are safe.
The problem is that the Pirate Bay chappies have probably not done anything illegal, but have done their damndest to cultivate an image that makes what they have done look illegal. It will take a very good judge to separate the facts from the image. Also with the recent change of legislation in Sweden, which almost specifically was bought in to get these guys, it is possible that the original judge was correct in his decision, and it'll take something like rescinding the law to win the case, and rescinding the laws is (except in Human Rights matters) a matter of politics, not law itself.
I'm not terribly convinced Jammie Thomas is a great case to fight the RIAA with;
Have I misunderstood the paperwork? reading between the lines it appears her lawyer is withdrawing and he is concerned that he has information contradictory to the line of argument his client wants put forward, and as an officer of the court, money matters aside, he feels he cannot go on.
If other issues do want to be raised, then I thought the defendant could simply give multiple reasons why the action cannot succeed, and ask the court to rule on them all....
Did you need dramamine to watch any of the Bourne movies?
You've just explained why it took me 5 attempts to watch the first one all the way through....
IIRC, the original NCC-1701 is a heavy cruiser; not a ship of the line, as you say, but still something that packs a hefty wallop and delivers a big punch. Whilst a frigate is a fairly nebulous term, and has been used for larger ships, it normally covers something of destroyer size or smaller.

When I spray coke over it like I normally do when reading Slashdot?
Why am I reminded of Teletubbies? And why does that scare the @#$% out of me?
It could be worse, you could be In the Night Garden!

The only thing round my Lamb is Mint Sauce (open sauce of course)

Presumably before he was a Master he was a Knight. Once a Master always a Master but once a night is enough....
It's a Space Station!
Its the only way to educate them.
I thought the Wave that was demoed was still an alpha version. So its fair to question it until it gets to Beta
And 4 and 5 digit ones for that matter....

I am waiting for 'Das Boot' version of this....

All those WoW and Diablo fanboys have to go somewhere....
