    Er, what? No..

"Tu" and "Toi" have nothing to do with gender, when addressing a person in french you don't have gender, if you're referring to a person, or things that belong to them, etc, that's different.

For example, "Allo, toi", "Hey, you". That'd be for either a female or a male.

"Toi" is like "You", "Tu" is used in questions and stuff like that ("Qui es-tu?").

Also, "vous" is plural, as you said, but it's also used as a more formal way to address a single person as well (ie: authority figure, elders, etc), "Qui est-vous?".

Why should I read this book, how will it further my understanding of the arguments being presented? Then you go and insult me with a generic comment about my abilities to read instead of explaining your point. If you're going to express an opinion of some sort, at least talk and develop it, instead of just throwing insults around. Then perhaps I'll bother taking you seriously.

The question: will these things improve my life?

    The answer: no.

And it won't yours either, all this is is interesting things to read about. We learn more, yeah, we gain knowledge, great. I'm all for that, but is it going to help us in our lives at all? Absolutely not.

Now I'm not saying research shouldn't be done, of course it should be, we have to understand and explore our surroundings, but I do think some priorities need to be straightened out. We've got half the world dying in poverty, people getting diseases, not eating right, the environment's going to hell, our governments suck (don't reply on these, everybody has a different opinion, and this isn't even the point here).

Personally I think all that money could - and arguably should - be put to better use. Then when things are going better, we can move on. There's a ton of things we don't even know about the earth yet, why are we exploring space?

I'm not at all saying everything should stop, and I don't believe things would get all that better if we worked at it, I'm no idealist. I just think it's a bit odd to be focusing so much energy on things that are lightyears away in some cases, when we can't even control what we have here.

  16. Re:the Stephen King method on Several Boycotts Of RIAA Organizing · · Score: 1

Well, ok... about the "Stephen King" way thing, what'd you then get is a situation where artists become broke as hell, because people are

    1) idiots, i'm sorry, but it's true... they are, or
    2) not aware of this particular band/artist

The only type of music that would survive a system like that is britney spears, eminem (or whoever's the lastest rap sensation now, who keeps track?) and the likes.

So much for mp3's helping out the poor indie artists. And what if I like certain songs others didn't, and so they didn't pay for them, and so on and so on, you see the situation that would come out of that..

But... I do see how it could sort of work, if there were some kind of a voting system, maybe, or reference system, where users could tell others about new bands, or artists that aren't very well known, that could work.

But even there, see, that's kind of a problem of its own, because the RIAA doesn't really care about that, they know what sells, what good is showing people new music that's original and fresh, if they know people will more easily go for the top 40 stuff they've already heard?

Personally, I think this would work much better if the artists - or record labels, whichever - had sites for these bands and offered samples on them, they could be lower quality, something of the sort.. just to ensure they're not being used as a substitute for the real thing. Then you'd get what most people like about napster, being able to sample the music, without the piracy side effect. Most likely they could also sell the mp3's online, of course though they'd need a better, friendlier to the users way of protecting those files. HMV is actually selling albums online, in mp3 format, not sure about any other stores, or they're going to anyway. The point is, it's starting to get done... although the prices look a bit weird to me. In any event, what bugs me about buying mp3's is that it's not actual physical data, what if my hard drive fails, will they have some sort of warranty? At least with a CD, I can take care of it, it's there, in my hands. Those protection methods would get tricky if you were to backup your albums... oh well, hopefully they'll wisen up and start embracing the new technology instead of trying to shoot it down.

Anyhow, this isn't making a whole lot of sense, I haven't slept yet and this coffee isn't terribly strong.

Remember back when all these guys didn't have a penny, and were just trying to get recognition... "It's all about the music," you'd hear them say, and as a matter of fact, if you ask them now, they'll still say the same thing.

"It's not about how you dress, or how you cut your hair, it's about the music..."
Well, perhaps for some it is, but don't you dare make them lose a penny in profits, or they'll sue your ass off. :)

But to get a bit more serious here, am I the only one who thinks this makes no sense what-so-ever? I mean, they're actually hunting down the people who like their music. If these "artists" keep this up, they might just end up losing a heck of a lot more money than what they've lost already, simply because people will stop buying their records. Just how much slapping in the face can the fans take?

The Athlon 1GHz still has on-card cache, like the others before it, to get to those speeds, AMD had to go with a 1/3 divider for the cache speed, bringing it to 333MHz.

Coppermine, on the other hand has on-die cache, which is running at full cpu speed.

Now, if you look at it, Intel actually had the chip to get to 1GHz, but AMD had been having such a good production run, and their cpu still had a lot of overhead, that they decided to push the MHz war a bit further.

Intel had to reply by producing their 1GHz cpu to show the market they had it in them, which involved skipping a few (understatement) clock speeds.
