I fail to see how a car with a computer built into it, is simpler than a computer.
My watch has a computer built into it. Is it simpler than a personal computer? Of course!
Um, you do realize that to run software, you need an OS?
No one said they're going to purchase a shrink-wrapped version of Windows XP and stick it on a car. The OS will be custom designed for the hardware it is supporting. Think more like Mac OS X, where both the hardware and software are created by the same vendor. Now consider that a car computer will be infinitely more simple than even the most basic personal computer, and you'll be understand where the last posted was coming from.
I have to admit that this is the first time I've tried using Opera... When you install it, it asks if you want to be force-fed ads based on your browsing or force-fed ads anonymously.
So, by downloading and using Opera you're supporting adware. Imagine the outrage that would occur if Internet Explorer included ads built into the browser and Microsoft offered to remove them if you paid for it. I do believe there would be lawsuits galore. I searched through the comments to this post, and I saw nothing mentioning these forced ads.
Where is the outrage? Why is Opera treated any differently than IE?
I'm not sure I'd trust this guy's results without knowing more about his testing environment. How exactly did he time these tests? Was it using the second hand on his analog watch? Did he do it with a stopwatch?
Honestly, what is the meaning of 0.47 and 0.48 seconds to start the browser when he easily could be off by a third of a second?
That's a foolish question. I have an "OS" that I've written called OS.bat. I'll pay you a penny to install it. By your reasoning, Windows and Linux are doomed. Pheer my better than free OS!
Your only option assuming Quicken doesn't change their policy or the way that Quicken downloads will be to manually import financial data by first exporting from your current banking website. Honestly, there's no telling what online banking will be like 3 years from now... they may abandon OFX entirely.
A: As of April 19, 2005, in accordance with the Quicken sunset policy, Online Services1 and Live Technical Support2 will no longer be available for Quicken 2001 and 2002 users. This means that you will no longer be able to download financial data into older Quicken software. You will still be able to manually enter your data.
Attempts to use Online Services after April 19, 2005 will result in a variety of program error messages related to the feature or service you try to access.
I work at a financial institution and am in charge of support for PFMs (Personal Finance Managers) including Microsoft Money and Quicken. The reason that Quicken is sunsetting support for online banking in 2001 and 2002 is that your online transactions actually come through Intuit's server, which accesses your bank server on your behalf. You can still use the older versions of Quicken, you just can't download transactions.
Microsoft Money on the other hand still works since it connects directly to the bank's OFX server. Although my bank only supports 2001 and newer, we have users that are actually connecting with Money 1999 with no problems.
You've got to be kidding me... Thirty thousand dollars for a stinking cardboard house? Thanks but no thanks... I'll stick with my 100k brick house. Seriously, since when did cardboard cost so much?
"iTunes works... and can do everything we thought was important; play music... serious warts (sound is tricky...)"
Yes, the program runs wonderfully. Heck, it even plays music. Our next objective is to get the music to actually make what we audiophiles call "sound" when you "play" it. I mean, seriously... why would anyone want their music player to output actual sound?
Did anyone else notice that this thing doesn't actually aim itself? Yeah... so it has a motion detector. It's stationary. All you have to do is walk around it while the "warning" is going off (not that I'm afraid of foam discs)...
You say that the country is more divided than before, but it's simply not true. In fact, the majority of the nation voted to re-elect President Bush. The distance between him and the runner-up is even greater than before. How is this more divided? If anything, more of the country is united in support of Bush.
"In a country like the United States that was founded on the principals of freedom, free exchange of ideas and diversity among other things, it is truly unbeliavable someone like Mr. Bush could ever become a president. "
In a country like the United States that was founded on the prinicpals of freedom, the president is selected through a process we call an "election". I know this is a difficult concept for you, as your concept of freedom means that the rest of the United States has to agree with who you want for president.
I can't wait for the next Windows virus or worm to take down all the cash machines.
Your statement assumes that the ATMs will be connected directly to the Internet instead of keeping a direct secure connection to the bank. Anyone that has their ATMs dial into AOL deserves what they get...
To make your analogy accurate, you'd have to break in and steal ALL of the valuables (not just your own.)
Then, after stealing everyone's items... you kept them at your house for a month, where they were only discovered because someone had a warrant.
After getting busted, you claim that you only did it to increase security. Yeah, right...
Well, if I'm older than you then I have prior use... so pay up. :P

That's correct... Microsoft Money will still connect to your bank and download transactions long after MSN Money services stop working.
