  1. I don't get these hacks on Iran Hacks US Spy Sites · · Score: 2, Interesting

Why are all these government spy groups in China and Iran using traceable IP's? Why not just send their spy to any place in the EU or US with enough money to buy a laptop with a wireless connection and do their hacking by hopping on unencrypted wireless networks? It's like spy's are getting ultra lazy and sloppy. Like with the assasination in dubi a few weeks back. Why were the spys caught on camera? Didn't it dawn on them they they should have taken out the camera system to cover their tracks so that no one would know. Instead we have them playing James Bond in plain view of the camera. Espionage is about doing things that don't lead back to you and leaves doubt about who did it and why. Malicous Hacking tip 101 Don't use your own IP address to do any hacking.

Since the Wii and PS3 use a custom modified version of OpenGL for their hardware I'd also have to side with OpenGL as at least being relevant to professional games.

And what is your firewall going to do if you tell it to trust the app or if the app is real malware and disables your firewall. Sure a tech would spot the behavior fast but a tech probably removed the software in the first place and never looked to see if it was transmitting data it shouldn't, and thus leave the unsuspecting user blissfully unaware that their tax document is being transmitted into a botnet because they said yes trust this app or never bother to check their firewall to see if it's on.

I agree with most of what you've said. However, most port blocking of email that I've encountered has been made to reduce spam email. One ISP I worked for blocked SMTP ports only when it was a dynamic IP. If the person was willing to purchase a static IP then they got free rain the set up an email server. The logic was if you had a dynamic IP setting up an email server was pointless since you could never guarantee your address when somone wants to send you something. The logic (right or wrong) continues until they believe the only reason for having an SMTP server on DHCP must only be for spam since you could never relyable receive. I'm all for net neutrality but most of the port blocking I've encountered is used to protect users from viruses or from spam. However, the speed throttling I've encountered has been used to hamper quality of service like torrents, and throttling me down just because blizzard needs to update is just rude of them.
