  1. Acid 3 result, 2d performance on Microsoft Previews IE9 — HTML5, SVG, Fast JS · · Score: 1

If you look back to when IE 8 was being developed, the Acid 3 score barely changed between preview releases and final scores. So I think this time it will be the same and 55 is around what we can expect in IE 9 final. So once again IE is not standards compliant (unless the submitted tests are accepted).
That said, I installed the preview and ran the test "Flying Images" and I was genuinely impressed. I hope that 2D performance comes to Firefox soon. The difference is astonishing especially when you increase the number of objects.

Exactly. This site is supposed to be for geeks, not someone who is necessarily looking for the "easy" or "short" way to do something. I know when I need to research electronics, it's not a burden; it's fun. And it's been the same for the last 12+ years so probably the OP doesn't really belong here..

    • 1.5lb is light? I don't concur. And the exterior design is bad. It would be fine for a small device like a phone. This is a slab and Apple has made no effort to make it easy to hold. That weight will take its toll within 10 minutes of usage. It will be an ergonomics disaster.

    • not horribly expensive
    • I disagree. See the opportunity cost over time. And if I wanted wifi at $500, I could buy a full featured laptop instead and do *whatever* I want with it, not just what Apple says I can.
