Just goto t-online.de (the main german ISP) and look at all the porn ads on the side.
Germans are in love with porn... just goto any local magazine shop, or just watch the tv here. Porn is everyware.
There is also a reson for this, Germans population grouth is the only that is in the negative. More Germans die than are born. And Germans normany get maried around 30-40 years old. The goverment promotes you to have kids (kindergeld?) They pay the mother a large sum for every child they have.
I had a 2000 BMW 316i and the bmw people always liked to leave the car ingear. So everytime I was at the dealer and hopped back in the car I would stall it - looking like a compelete idiot.
My parents went to Poland with their Mazda 626. They parked on a street curb, the street was full of cars and were happy they found a spot. They went to some stores and came back 30 min or so later. They came back and the street was empty. No one saw anything. They went to the police and they guy look at them and says, "We don't even have money to buy a tow truck."
The mafia just took _every_ car on the street.
This summer I went to Kiev (Ukraine) for vacation (to buy warez:) and saw some of the shittyist cars around, but also saw some of the most expencive Mercedies I have ever seen (I live in Germany), mostly S600's and SUV's
I was talking to a Army recruter and he said that on the 12, 13 and 14th on Sept. the Army had NO NEW SIGNUPS. For three days after the atack no single person entered the Army.
Also Navy ROTC and Civil Air Patrol is using MS Flight Sim 2000 for traning.
I remeber my dad took me to the Navy post grad school in Monterey CA back in '95. They were developing sims that had helecopters, tanks and personel in one scenerio. I am still amazed by the graphics. It was funny, at one point the machines crashed and started playing clasical music. One of the guys with a pony tail and glasses says, "Uh, it crashed again"
Thats a good idea, just make the classes video based/cbts and those who don't want to learn, fine. But those who pass the exams get out sooner and can get a job.
We orderd DSL flat rate to upgrade our ISDN, waited 3 months for the kit. Finaly got it and installed it. Support told us on the phone that the line is activated BUT the flat rate will start monday. I pitched a fit but gave up.
Two months later our bill come out over $1200!!! They never acrivated the flat rate. The problem is that we don't have anyware in writing that flat rate will start on this day, only that the line will be activated on this day.
I called them once and asked in German, "Do you speek English?" three diffrent people hang up on me.
AT&T, SPRINT, MCI... MSN(!) SAVE US PLEASE! from Telekom!
With this trend to continue, OSs should be redesigned. The hard disk has the advantage of keeping the data with no power, but the ram has speed. New pcs could have 3GB of ram and a 40GB ide HD for storage. When the pc boots it would copy the data into its ram and then execute all programs from ram, sure this would take a long boot but with new os to be stable this should not be a problem.
We would have to do some serius os and user interface redesign. If the pc is used for video editing the samples could be kept in memory this would speed thing up a bit, but you would have to save the data to the HD eventualy.
Another great application for this would be chase servers, imagin a organization that does video editing and all the clients have gigabit ethernet, implement servers that have 1TB of ram before the data storage server at night they could sync the data.
Seriusly, we have to think about this, our current view on pc is that ram is way more that hd storage. Diskless clients could make a come back...

This guy I knew told me a story that a few years ago they declassified the videos from the bombs that fell in '91. He said that all you saw was desert, then a small building, then 2 guys standing outside smoking... and blank. Wonder what they were talking about.
For anyone that wants better intel than cnn.com on what is going on, a site called stratfor.com exists. It's setup by x-military intel people who know this stuff, they have good info and a daily newsletter that is free and worth singing up for. They also provide their intel services to companys and media, but that cost a bit.
>The question I want an answer to is: how could that be allowed to happen? Surely someone knew what was happening -- why didn't we intervene to stop what was otherwise inevitable?!
What about in places in Africa? People know what is going on, they just don't care until it hits them. I think more money should be sent to organizations like the one in the book and game "Rainbow Six" and intel gathering so that these heartless tribes could be brought down.
My Friend always told me not to buy IBM drives, he had a new SCSI fail, 4 IDEs fail. I went out and bought my IBM 41.1GB 5400rpm drive (made in Thailand DEC2000) and yesterday it failed on me.
I need to RMA it but my friend waited 9 months for one of his drives, and is still waiting for the 3 others.
Sorry IBM, I love you Thinkpads, but your drives are poor.
Frankfurt Airport has open 802.11b, all I saw was a bunch of novell and NT.
I have the Sniffer 4.6 Wireless on my laptop, if anyone who lives in the Frankfurt area and whats to check it out, give me a shout at kruczkowski@hotmail.com (English please:)

So when a developer invited a girl over to his place he could impress her...
I wonder if it ever worked.
They were looking for some action.

3. No mousepads needed.
Hey Bob, do you think we should get desktops or laptops?

This remind me of the Simpsons episode when Homer was hired to build a car...
Its true. I've always told people, "Microsoft is NOT a software giant, but a Marketing Giant"
Cool, I open /. and see NASA software. Click on the link wait for it to load, watching TV while waiting...
After a few seconds I look and the first think I see on the right is, "Crack Growth and Fatigue Analysis"
What does this have to do with uh software, nasa, umm computers?
