Don't underestimate the stupidity of your average criminal. My dad is a lawyer who has defended some really dumb criminals. I remember him telling me one time about a client who got busted for robbing a jewelry store. Apparently on his way to commit the crime he was pulled over for speeding. As luck would have it, he brought the ticket into the store with him and accidentally left it on the counter. Needless to say, it didn't take very long for the police to find him
Indeed. If you suspect the police are using a GPS tracker on you, let someone else borrow your car and lead the police on a wild goose hunt. It'll waste their time and maybe give you an alibi:P
You completely missed the point here, my friend. The point is I bought almost none of my music off iTunes. That means that when I bring in my phone to work and sync it with itunes there, it does not sync my music onto my work computer. However, the parent is claiming that if you buy the music via iTunes, they do sync it to your work computer.
Whether that is true or not, I don't know. I didn't think they let you sync music to multiple machines in the first place. If it is true, and it wouldn't surprise me, I'll be pissed because that has been one of the biggest things I hate about my phone.
This tool is nothing but a giant slashvertisement, though I suppose that should be obvious. It was a complete waste of time. Oh and I'm worth $31 online if anyone wants to buy me;o)
Oh don't be fooled. That is the green screen they are going to use to fake the launch. Special effects have gotten a lot better since the "moon landing";o)
Seriously, FFS, if you think you have Swine Flu, pretend you have the "normal" flu (which you do) and act accordingly by staying home and not bothering your doctor.:P
You're under the, imo, false assumption that most people stay home for the flu. A lot of people pressure their doctor into giving them something to make them feel better. Its sad but most people don't realize how little doctors can do to treat viral infections.
Please! You guys are passing over pivotal inventions such as Oxyclean, ShamWOW, Bump-it, and other life changing inventions. You guys don't watch enough infomercials.
It's called multi-threading. Most servers don't need a ton of horse-power, but they want to handle as many simultaneous tasks as possible. More cores means that you can theoretically handle more requests at once.
Worst of all for TiVO is that the service providers are intentionally trying to block them out of the market so they can provide their own DVR's based on TiVO's work. It's patents fighting against service monopolies.
Nope, that's not the case at all. I can turn adds off too and I don't even run adblock. If a site has too many ads for my taste, I just close it never to return again.
I don't think it's acceptable to require auth for LAN play. As someone posted above, it's possible you'll want to ad-hoc somewhere that internet isn't available. Or, what if you lose network connection due to an issue with your ISP? What if the authentication server goes down? What if the authentication server is down for maintenance?
huh. I always thought the shaky-cam was to cut costs on special effects. Your CGI doesn't have to look half as good when the viewer can't even tell what's going on in the picture.
I don't think they are going to actively pursue people for surfing these social networks. Instead, once you get arrested they will look through your browser history and nail you. Or, if you're on parole/probation and they are looking for a violation, they'll get a warrant for your browser history.
Is it only the Xbox version? That is all that was released in the study. Are they logging and reporting on the PS and PC versions as well? If they are sending reports on the PC version, are they snooping through the contents of my entire hard drive?
I don't mean to be a tin-foiled privacy freak but there is no way for anyone to know for sure. I own this game for XBox and they don't give you any sort of warning or opt out feature.
If its illegal for someone to record telephone conversations without consent, it should be illegal for software to "phone home" without consent. Maybe it is, I don't know. I suspect that Eidos isn't the only publisher doing this, either.
The point of the article was to show that without any insider information, they were able to take control of the results of an election. That seems to have gone right over your head.
But of course any sophisticated hacker is going to do whatever they can to get access to the internal workings of the box.
Not only that but do you play World of Warcraft? Their authentication servers are down ALL The time. When I have a couple of friends over and we want play starcraft, we do NOT want to worry about whether Blizzard has technical issues. Not to mention the infamous Patch Tuesdays that brings WoW to its knees. Will they have to bring down SC2 once a week too?
This is the end of the road for me. I'm cancelling my WoW account right now. Requiring Battle.net for all their future games? No thanks.

I'm no expert on physical media here but as storage space increases wouldn't you expect the drive to be able to handle more reads?

Granted, I am in the top 1 percentile intelligence-wise.
Oh yeah? And in what percentile is your modesty? ;o)
Should I stop caring about Burger King because I can't run Linux on a Whopper?
Don't be daft man, the Whopper has never supported Linux.
But not all of us have glasses, you insensitive clod!

This is why the military acts in coordinated units. One guy might be analyzing the data but you can bet he's got several others watching his back.
Don't project your lack of common sense on the military.

"As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly." A. Carlson
They can. Haven't you ever seen Air Force One? It has been flying them all over the world since 1990.
I went to IITSEC last year and used an AR-15 simulator there that was similar, only you fired actual blanks. It was pretty fun.
