yes you are mistaken... the Monster 3d card had only 4Mb, the voodoo2's had 8, 12, and I think 16 not sure on that though. I still have a monster 3d in my spare 233 amd. Damn that card was $$ in the day, I paid $189 for it brand new.
For the most part my pc is the same. Execpt that if I sit in a certin spot next to my desk, my 10K scsi drive make my cordless phone tweek hard core, also it seems to affect the lower channels on the tv (not my tuner card at all just the tv set it's self).
I know it might not be popular here on slashdot, but I am *very* pro-DMCA. Hacking needs curtailed at all costs and if it means loss of the first amendment (which, IMO is crap anyways) or a bunch of "hackers" and "linux dorks" getting their asses raped in prison and infected with AIDS then it's worth it.
Good thing for the First Amendment./. would be goverment regulated, and your post would probably end up with you being fined or put into jail.
I find it funny how chipmakers always change the names of their project, at ramdom. Remember that this CPU was supposed to be SledgeHammer at first. Now it ClawHammer, sound kinda weak to me.

Secondly, the Netstream2000 is over $2000 and is for commercial use only. You probably couldn't get one even if you had the money to burn.
Wrong! The Netstream2000 is $240.00 not $2000.00, I know I bought mine from insight.com. It is fully supported, t.v. out & video overlay, it is based on the EM8400 chip which does all decoding in hardware. The EM8300 (H+/DXR3)only decodes video, audio & css are done in software. Plus the Netstream2000 is not a commercial use only product just commercial grade.
1. it is too expensive - especially if you want the live platinum, for it's s/pdif outputs.
All of the SB-Live cards have s/pdif connector, even the SB-Live value, it just on a pinout on the borad it's self. I have the x-gamer and it works just fine, s/pdif as well.
I have the Netstream2000 from sigmadesigns, and yes it does do streaming video, but when you download the linux drivers, they come with a few apps to acually watch a DVD movie on your computer, the bunk part is to use it in linux you MUST buy the remotecontrol. The video overlay is very nice, and the tv out is very nice as well. The program miniplayer that comes with the drivers is the program that allows video overlay otherwise the default is tv-out. If you want DVD in linux and you want an awsome picture, this is defenitly the card to buy!
Better yet! go buy a Netstream2000 from SigmaDesigns. It is fully supported in linux, hardware css, video overlay, tv out. This card rocks! The only problem is the price is $200
I never said you could use my name! Your penelty will involve deleting all traces of Linux on your computer and intsall my latest & greatst OS Windows ME. If you do not comply you will be shot in front or a firing squad.
Well i'm sure there are plenty of countrys that would like to do just that, but the truth of the matter is that no counrty in the world right now has THE BALLS to try and fuck the USA! Don't get me wrong i'm a US citizen and I fell embarased of most of the thing that go on in our country.

Are you trying to get all of us to believe that a Ford Escort can even do more then 80?
the pilots are the McKenzie bros., you hoser.
or am I the only who relizes that general motors is not ford at all. GM makes chevy, pontiac, cadalliac, etc... Again GM is not Ford. DOH!
Only the first generation of PII's were 66mhz (233, 266, 366). I have a dual 400PII and it has a 100mhz bus, as well as my old 300PII.
The speed of you cpu has nothing to do with the speed of your downloads (doh!). A 486 can saturate a T1.
as well as mod_perl NOT php

Good thing for the First Amendment.
Yes there is. I use a hauppauge card for capture, and avifile & vcr ( both can be found on Freshmeat ). I make a small script like this
#!/bin/sh
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH
PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH
export PATH
DATE=`date +%m%d%y`
FILENAME=/path/to/myshow-6pm-$DATE.avi
v4lctl setstation 3
vcr -t 60m $FILENAME
An call it from 'cron' or 'at'. Works very good, and the files are DivX;-) avi's so they are fairly small. Linux VCR-HOWTO

I still own the Model 200, and it still works. Talk about fast, 24K, built in 300 buad modem. Hell this was made before '87 as well.
I'm starting to wonder where NCR gets their crack at.

you should know what you are talking about before you open your mouth and stick your foot into it. DVD decoder that works in linux and it legal.
Well I fell for it, DOH! It does the same thing w/nutscrape in linux as it does in winblows.

I have wished for sometime now fot the 'Lame' option to be put on the moderation list
I really don't see how this post is flambait. Just looks like someones opinion.
