  1. Ron Paul gets cut off when speaking the truth on CBS and CNN Could Be Making News Together · · Score: 1

When Ron Paul is on cable news networks, and starts talking about the 1953 Coup de tat, he is cut off immediately and they break to commercial. Both Fox and CNN are guilty of this. I don't believe that we have Freedom of the Press in this country for that reason and many others. We have New York Times reporters thrown in jail for leaking information that can hurt the administration.

We need the country to wake their brain dead asses up and do a little bit of research rather than just following the talking heads of CNN and Fox. I think the 1953 Coup de tat has a little bit more historical significance than Britney Spears ass in a windshield. Why do they always seem to have time for the latter? Seems fishy to me.

These issues need to remain issues at the local level. If someone back east(or on the other side of the country) is smoking or eating fatty foods, that's their problem. Why does that affect you?

As always, no one is looking at the root causes of these problems, but rather they are treating the symptoms. This non-sense. The more responsibility you hand over to government, the worse your life is going to get. Just look to the past, they've been destroying everything!

Gillette had the idea to give away the razor to sell the blades in 1900. I would consider this a marketing expense, and I do not see software as less valuable than a physical product. In many cases I would see it as more valuable. Word processor or typewriter...Digital Audio Workstation or 4-track....etc...

I don't see DRM as killing music or software. Giving away music may be a valuable marketing tool for some artists, but it can also devalue your music. It's human nature to want what you can't have and vice versa. If Metallica just gave away their music, they would have been out $1 billion at about 100 Million Albums at about $10 per. Maybe it's a good idea for lessor known artists, but when I think about bands that just handed me their CD (this is in the old days), it ended up on a shelf rather than the CD player.

In the case of software, I see DRM as quite necessary. It takes a lot of time and energy to develop good software. People deserve compensation for their efforts.

If I had more interesting work to do that required concentration and I got a lot of pressure to get stuff done, I'd walk right out of this office and find a new job. If you have developers that will screw off with an office, you should consider firing them and finding decent ones.

If you have newbs that are learning to program, then they need interaction. Other than that, interaction with other programmers should be extremely brief...say 5 minutes. Your code should communicate what it's doing.

  21. Re:Who exactly is fighting back? on Climate Researchers Fight Back · · Score: 1

The term changed from 'Global Warming' to 'Climate Change'. Why is that? If they(politicians such as Al Gore) didn't mean Global Cooling, why didn't they stick with the former term.

Scientists have shown that the Earth's climate has been fluctuating for millions of years. It's been through several ice ages. How can you expect the Earth's climate not to fluctuate given that it changes distance from the Sun constantly? Scientists have claimed that the Sun will eventually run out of energy. I really doubt the amount of energy it emits will be constant until that time. How can you make the claim that the climate should follow a repeatable pattern?

If the problem is Global Warming from Man-made pollution, then why not use the term 'Pollution' to describe the problem rather than use a term that describes a symptom of the problem?

Even if humans were proven to be the cause of 'Climate Change', we wouldn't stop doing the things we're doing. Do you really think it's feasible to throw away all of our vehicles, live without electricity, or gas, destroy all of our airplanes, tankers, weapons. Even if we were able to live completely off of Solar and Wind energy, that would still pollute because the materials are pollutants, and it would take energy to create them.

The fact is that in order to survive, some sacrifice has to be made.

The general politic rhetoric with this topic is "Humans are destroying the planet, therefore we have to tax you." No politician has ever given a solution to the alleged problem, you didn't propose a solution in your response, and you even admitted that there isn't a good solution. This is why people are irritated with the rhetoric.

I challenge you to propose a definitive, feasible solution.
