Public schools and private schools have very different pay rates. A public school near me starts a MS degree with no experience at $49K. Equivalent private schools in the area are less than half that! I teach in the Chicago Public Schools as a Math teacher. Yes, I experience the same frustrations and problems, but I've got the golden handcuffs on. If I had only gotten into teaching from day one. I spent 25 years as a COBOL mainframer. After Y2K, I was obsolete, so I went into teaching. Helluva lot more fun than being a cube dweller. And in a big city system, decent dough. But that why we call it combat pay.
Absolutely agree. Lecture is mostly dead. I found myself skipped 50% of the classes. But classes does not consists the major part of my university life. Interaction with Professor, with Classmates, and the resources available in University that enable many more idea to be realized are the key.
Did he mention virtual Lab? I didn't RTFA but how is it going to work!? unless you are saying we are plugged in the Matrix...

There, fixed that for you. I see you skipped most of the written communications, grammar and syntax classes.
Thank you Neanderthals for sparing us...and we're sorry about anything we might have done to you...later. Well, at least we made it easy for them to buy insurance.
...work, too! I think that someone posted the best comment here at the story on avoiding RSI's (http://ask.slashdot.org/askslashdot/06/07/14/0040 255.shtml).
Don't ever fall into one single way of doing things. Sit, stand recline, whatever. Keep yourself changing now and then, and you won't get tired.
Symantec buying Central Point Software(of PC Tools fame). In DOS days PCT was my whole operating environment. Loved it. After Symantec, down the drain.
This does not usually work. Community colleges are very competitive(around Chicago), and they all market themselves on the quality of their faculty. Thus, to get a teaching gig at one of these CC's, you MUST have a master's degree in the field you want to teach. Tough if all your expertise comes from experience.
Then there was the time I found my wife under the tree wearing that really hot teddy i got her at Victoria's Secret. Really provided hours of fun(and learning too!) Never gets boring, and can alway find new things to play!
Is there a way I could read your thesis? I am getting back into teaching after a 6 year stint in the IT business(the Y2K money was just too hard to turn down), and I was planning on a MS program in Instructional Technology. What school did you go to? What would you look for in an MS program? Thanks!

So when are they going to finish the job they started with replacing the FAA's 40+ year-old IBM mainframes?

I've got a bad feeling about this.....
That's Kelly Le Brock!
I've always wondered about that. Since Scotty was supposedly the "Engineers' Engineer", why didn't HE know who invented it?

Yes
Actually I was thinking more along the lines of an opened wooden crate in the background with the words, "Acme Rockets, Inc." stenciled on it.
...you mean we can't just reverse the polarity of the plasma conduits!?!??!?!?
You could always look here--- http://ask.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/11/10/23 59209&tid=185&tid=100&tid=4

Bragging or complaining?
What's the matter? You've got two hands, don't you?
Actually we mean Sinatra, Martin, Bishop, and Lawford!
