Groups of people sometimes engage in group fantasies where they forget about inconvenient facts and build castles in the sky. A well-placed expletive as part of a well-reasoned argument can pierce the giddy atmosphere quickly and get everyone back on track.
I would mod you down if I could. You throw out misleading statements left and right.
You say, "Word is a standard the way that FAT is a standard" The problem is, we are not talking about the word files that we've all grown to know and hate, we are talking about a new kind of word file that doesn't even exist yet.
Your choice to view the implementations in such a manner totally glosses over the fact that the Microsoft spec is woefully incomplete, there is no way for anyone besides Microsoft to actually implement it, unlike SPF and SenderID, which are relatively trivial network protocols.
You talk about defacto standards and the fact is that this is not even a defacto standard, as not even Microsoft has committed to implementing it. How can you have a defacto standard when there are no implementations?
What you are really saying is that Microsoft is going to jam this thing down our throats, whether we want it or not.
You are really just a troll, in the most insidious sort of way.
I'm older than any of you guys and I spend way too much time in front of a computer (ask my wife!). My hands are just fine, thank you. I got rid of the mouse a long time ago; now I use a trackpad. I also take breaks to go to a window and look off at something on the horizon, it helps prevent the seemingly ubiquitous nearsightedness (literally, not figuratively) among geeks.
There are so many ways to boot linux, all different and interesting:
- the standard way, from the boot sector of your hard drive - the live-cd way, from an eltorito image on a cd-rom or dvd-rom - the original way, from a floppy drive - some machines let you boot from a zip drive - from a usb key, which could be any of the above under the covers - over the network, using pxelinux - out of rom

Soekris has a whole lineup of single-board machines with this processor. The prices are pretty reasonable, and they have cases and a some accessories. Netgate makes wireless hardware kits for Soekris aystems. Soekris made the hardware for the MIT RoofNet project.
If Windows had a package system like rpm for its internal parts. If you're setting up a server, don't install the gui. If it's a gaming machine, don't bother with all the database stuff. For a development machine, install everything. Windows would actually be a lot more interesting and useful.
That's list price. I can't even remember the last time I paid even close to list price for computer gear. I shop carefully and usually pay about half of list. Half of $360 is quite reasonable for this board.
You really demonstrate your ignorance of the market. There are a lot of motherboards out there that cost this much and more. If they were flops they wouldn't keep selling them. The market is splintered all over the place, which is why we have cheeseball motherboards for duffers like you and fancy ones for people who want fancy features without using up all the internal slots. "our" market is really "your" market. And last I checked, motherboards come with warranties, too.
I refuse to run Microsoft software. The reasons are many and not worth going into. I won't pirate it, because I'm a software developer whose pay comes from paid-for software, and I won't engage in conduct that I would not tolerate from others. I was intrigued by this motherboard until I saw the Windows requirement. ASUS, you have a potential sale here if you make it usable without Windows, I am tired of waiting for Linux to boot up. I like your stuff, I'm typing on an ASUS system right now.
With all the corporate-induced environmental disasters, wars, etc. in the world, that people would find something more important to get excited about than the terms and conditions for a cell phone.
Well, my employer's customers use SuSE 9 and SuSE 10, so that's what I have to use. None of this openSuSE stuff. Hey, we still support VMS. What can I say?
Sure, they are evil, but this is beyond their ability. Shoot, the distribution business can't even get the manufacturers to put barcodes on cases in a uniform way. There are untold millions that could be saved in the distribution business if the cases had barcodes on them that could be scanned in an effective manner. Forget it. The market is too chaotic and not even Wal-Mart can bring it to order.
My Fedora machine is running 2.6.22.9, what's so modern about 2.6.22.5?
YaST is a piece of junk. If you use rpm to install a package, you have hopelessly screwed up YaST and it will never behave correctly again. It's why I gave up on SuSE. Maybe there's a way to fix it, but there are plenty of distributions that behave correctly and don't require putzing around.
Pure vapor. Again, Microsoft sees other people making money, gets mad, issues a vaporware press release. This one sounds like it may have taken an hour or so to write. If there ever is a finished product, you just know that it won't even resemble what they are talking about here. Go back and read old Microsoft press releases if you doubt me.
What you are doing seems like a lot of work. I think perhaps you will get more out of this if you combine with garlic and cinnamon as another poster suggests.
Those folks from India are getting it right again.
Why not just make and eat lots of delicious curry? Alcohol is fun, but it is also a poison. They did not appreciate this fact so much back in 1918.
1. It's so low tech it's funny. Come on. 2. NASA has shown repeatedly that they can invent anything they want to. Have you checked out that insulating ceramic stuff? It's still amazing 30 years later.
So GET THE FUCK BACK TO WORK!

I don't care what any study says. It makes my eyes feel better. I don't need glasses, that's proof enough for me.

What if the restaurant management handed a pocket radio to each person coming through the door.
If everyone has their own radio, nobody is listening to anybody else's music.
Hos is that different from multiple people listening to the same radio?
I'm still trying to figure out how this makes any sense.
