    I've found Cleaner to be somewhat less userfriendly and stable than Sorenson Squeeze - Squeeze also costs about $100 less. Its does realplayer, quicktime, mpeg files as well as flash SWF and FLV files which are good for cross platform no brainer plays-in-a-window video files. You can also set it up as a watchfolder renderer, so all you have to do is drop new videos into a watched folder and it will automatically render all your set formats.

    I see a lot of suggestions here for torrents, divx, etc which are not as wide spread and userfriendly as WMV / QT / FLASH /MPEG options. your best bet is probably to provide multiple format options to hit the widest audience, which can be batch rendered with Cleaner or Squeeze.

    ok, I admit I'm not real familiar with the latest in television technology, but exploding TV's? what could possibly be the upside of that? faced with that sort of danger you'd definately want a TV-b-Gone. I'd say if their TV's are exploding TiVo's fate has definately been sealed.

    I had a solbourne portable workstation in the early nineties.. It had an optical mouse but required a specific reflective mousepad covered in tiny dots to work.. I've tried tablets, trackballs and other types of input devices, and I still come back to the mouse for daily use.

    Not only are they doubling traffic, they can help spread the virus.. I've recieved bounced email containing the virus, since the the return address is randomized this in effect helps to spread the virus. Why include the attachment in a bounce message?

    Huh?

    I build all my own PC's and I've never used Pheonix bios, usually AMI or Award. You make it sound like there is there is no alternative to DRM hardware in PC land.

    And as far as a computer company that respects your Freedom goes, well, I've tried replacing a 10 dollar lcd display cable in an old power book before and I had to hunt around for one on the grey market because no authorized Apple dealer was permitted to sell the part to an end user. They wanted a couple of hundred dollars for this really simple fix. Thats just goofy. I'll keep my additional $2,000 and my freedom to choose the hardware that goes into my machines thankyouverymuch.

    Yeah, and I'd be really mad if our government did that and I suddenly stopped recieving my portion of the nations income from selling TLD's. This is not cost re-distribution, Its revenue re-distribution - theres a difference. In this case the money coming in from the sale of .nu is going to pay for bandwidth for the entire island rather than a bigger house for a CEO.

    You're right somebody is paying, but its not the islanders, its the people buying .nu domains.

    Heh.. yeah, thats like "the last book you'll ever read" by Dr. Tommorow (AKA Frank Ogden).. I read that book around '92 - Funny thing is I've actually read other books since, printed on old fashioned dead trees (how 20th century of me!)..

    The internets not dying, its evolving into a new and improved state where nobody will have to make decisions anymore, and all the voices will be trustworthy. This is great news! Think of all the oppourtunity the future holds for trustworthy news of fantastic new products!

    Thanks for the link, I'll check that out.

    Right now I'm using showshifter for my media box, and I like it, but I really like the looks of myHTPC, and the price is right.

    Have you been using it for long? How convoluted is the set-up. Do you have to manually add the info for those pretty screenshots, or is their a flawless interface with IMDB databases? In short, whats the user experience like?

    ..and I never knew that Bob Marley did the soundtrack to pulp fiction.. Any idea why those songs and album info dont match in this screenshot?
