Google is already doing server+plus battery in their shipping container-based data centers. They claim that their research shows that larger power supplies (rack or row or bigger) are much more efficient.
WTF happened to setting limits as a parent? This seems to be the classic "surely we can find a technical solution to a people problem" hole. What about requiring parents to take child-rearing classes that cover internet predators and how to limit children's activities on the 'net until they are ready to handle the mostly adult online world? This seems like anti-virus tools; the OS is broken so let's build a band-aid that covers the holes. It seems like it would be better, a la the US Head Start program, to educate parents early in the process so their kids don't get into these situations until they are mature enough to handle them.
The Natural Resources Defense Council spokesman calls fusion "snake oil". Couldn't have seen that one coming...;-) Reminds me of "Thank You For Smoking."
Although the feeling is not universal, several Windows admins with whom I work have told me they like Windows 7. This is the first time in a while I have heard any of them say they actually like a Microsoft OS.
Apparently MS is so confident in their platform, they partnered with houseparty.com, a company running Red Hat Linux infrastructure (according to NetCraft), to handle their Windows7 launch event... interesting.
The folks at the DERI institute used to have Sig.ma, a visual browser and mashup generator that will go all over the web of data and find dozens of sources to combine together when answering a user query.
I always hated cursive. Not sure why. I ended up teaching myself Chancery Italic instead. Kinda hurt my grades in school, but I have found it much better suited to occasional writing in a typing world. It's neat and lacks some of the stranger specialty letter forms that seem to have been added to cursive to speed up writing (r,s...). Writing fast and neatly made sense in the 20th century, but now I think students are better served by something simpler and clearer plus hardcore typing instruction through all of high school.
Mr. Holder (interesting name) better get himself a lawyer, because if he has my info, I am going to hire one to get it purged from his db. It does not matter if there he thinks there is some "greater good" to having it. It's my info; he shouldn't have it. What if someone steals his precious DB? He's basically hung a shingle that says "hack me" at this point.
I have a Neuros OSD. Works well for what it is. Link is their new HD product. Has anyone tried it?
Amen.

Sort of like the last Batman movie?
Does anyone have a pointer to clear instructions for setting up a caching nameserver on various platforms and configuring those platforms to use it?
Instead of focusing on games, you could expand the card decks available for free/OSS non-linear learning tools and help promote those tools.

TFA: "It's available for Mac OS X and Windows."
I was looking for the origin, actually... :-/
As I wrote the above I realized that "used to {verb}" is a really odd idiom. Can anyone explain?

I was shocked and dismayed as I read this article on my iPhone while headed into work on the turnpike this morning.
SubEthaEdit does collaborative coding on Mac, if I recall correctly.
