Has anyone else been getting spam promoting the purchase of infinium labs stock? Too lazy to look for one of them, but its on one of those non sec stock markets.

Has infinium turned into one of those fake boilerroom companies, with some people trying to cash out real quick?

  4. We did something like this. on Wi-Fi Redirect Gateway Patent for Hotspots · · Score: 4, Informative

A company I worked for did this for wired networks, mostly hotels. Instead of DHCP, we actually had an arp spoofer, so we would pretend to be whatever gateway you wanted (if you had a static ip setup), or wed serve you dhcp, or whatever you asked for.

No matter what webpage you requested, you got the sign up page to buy access. Pretty basic, and most hotel type places employ a system similar to this.

this comment is probably not relevant.

I still thought JohnDoe was a good show and worth watching. I hadnt heard it was cancelled yet either. Many of the episodes only had a little of the main plot arch, and most of them were centered around a sort of "one man csi". The really smart guy kicking ass is usually entertaining for me. But boy that seasonfinale. yikes!

hah, sure. They have great stuff in truckstops. Truckdrivers apparently run all kinds of junk in those cabs. I like the tiny little dvd players. But yah, the games inside the joypad is a pretty cool idea. I think the snes/genesis ones can only be found in countries with more lax laws. You can find them using google though.

I had a problem playing diablo2, my cdrom (and many others) wouldnt support their copy protection algorithm, so they released a patch. I liked diablo2 for a few months. Diablo2 forces patches down my throat when i connect. They fixed it so good i cant play diablo2 again. They say a fix is coming soon. I havent played diablo2 in 6 months. I hate blizzard. Its nice that you can make a game, have people buy it, and then break it so they cant play it anymore, and thats just fine with them.

  19. Re:Atlanta Area Geeks on Constructing A Geek House · · Score: 1

I hated Atlanta when I got here 3 years ago, and it took a good year to find my groove. Ive moved all over the city since then, and now live in dunwoody also. Ive got a great geek house, dsl, lots of cables, computers hanging on the walls, bsd's, linux, solaris, and a laptop with a riccochet modem. Atlanta isnt all that bad :) I suggest flashers on roswell road for a good time, before your girlfriend gets here that is :) Also try Locoz, the Taco Macs, Diggers for Sports, Chicagos pizza (weekends are nuts there). All of these places are within 5 minutes of your home most likely. Email if your smart and need a good job.

  21. When are they going to get it? on RIAA Plans to Allow Portable MP3 Players · · Score: 3

"riaa will allow mp3s to exist"...

When are they going to get it? This is exactly the type of mentality that will ensure they loose.

As long as physical media exists, we will be there making mp3s. They cant force another format on us. Itd be one thing if we didnt know how to make the mp3s ourselves. Who do they think made all the mp3s that are already out there? We did.

You can shove that liquid audio right up yer @#$)@#($

  22. the thing they dont understand. on RIAA wants to assassinate MP3 · · Score: 1

I see one major flaw in the RIAA thinking.

As long as they produce physical media, we will continue to make mp3s. They can put out their new copywrited formats all they want, but the deal is, WE are the people make the audio files, not them. WE are the ones distributing them on the net, not them, and WE will continue to produce mp3s until the point in time in which you can no longer purchase a physical CD.

Dont fret, mp3s arent going anywhere.

  23. Usual Media Hype and Bollocks.... on The Public & The Internet: Open Forum · · Score: 1

I keep seeing images on news stations of the game "DOOM" being played.

First of all, Why werent the kids playing quake2 or even quake1? The images of Doom seem cartoonish at best. I wont beleive the "ultra violence" of doom caused anyones death until i see someone keel over from seeing the lights of a BFG.

I think its unfortunate that the tragedy is going to put a shadow on those of us who use the internet on a daily basis. They're going to want to take away our guns now, and probably ask us to remove any KMFDM imagery from our webpages.

Lets put the blame where it needs to be, on the newsmedia, the parents who cant control their kids, .... and AOL!(aka satan)
