    ever smelled the exhaust off a 60's car? There's a LOT of unburned gas in there. Yet the car will do 25mpg.

    Now try smelling the exhaust off a modern car doing the same 25mpg... Strangely enough, it's a lot cleaner, isn't it!

    incomplete combustion causes pollution.. you end up with non-water products coming out the pipe.

    you may have an engine that can get more miles per gallon out of a tank, but your engine is also polluting far more than the Insight.

    friend of mine has done the same thing, and his name isn't even all that unique.. but he works in a mail sorting facility at a university.. and he's probably the only one named that there.

    i've gotten mail for me that only had a city/postal code on it, no name.

    they used the return address to figure out who it was most likely to go to..a slight advantage of living in a rural area for almost 20 years and the post office people knowing who everyone is.

    supermicro makes a P4 motherboard with ISA slots.

    DOS _should_ run on it. I know windows 95 doesn't boot on P4 motherboards, even in safe mode. Either too fast, or it doesn't like the hardware?

    I have the supermicro P4SCA running in a CMM system, the controller unit uses an ISA card, and it's $7000 dollars to replace that with a PCI version.

    i have one of those sitting in my office, not sure on the exact model though.. it looks like that one though

    we replaced it with an iSeries 170, and then a few years later had to replace THAT with a iSeries 270. it was cheaper to replace the server than upgrade the old one.

    for $70 cdn a month, i can get a 10mbit/1mbit cable modem feed. My current 5mbit feed at about 45 a month will do about 600k/s no problem.

    the school board started glueing the mouse ball holder.

    i'm sure they were glad when optical mice started becoming popular/available.

    back in the day, onsale.com used to extend an auction if there was a last minute bid.

    and every time there was a bid after that, they'd extend it again.

    i was bidding on some micropolis hard drives, there were a couple hundred drives in the auction.

    if even ONE bidder changed their bid, it'd add the extension time.. so after a day or two of that, onsale.com finally had to end the auction.. they'd probably STILL be bidding on them a month later..

    Easy on a thinkpad: Buy the high end dock.. you can get them for about 30-40 dollars on ebay.. and it has a PCI slot built in.

    course, now you have to cart that around...

    My old omnibook 5500/5700's had docking stations with pci/isa slots as well.

    works great with my blackberry 7510, didn't need any other software, Telus(CDN) and Nextel(USA) both provide the connectivity you need without going through that overpriced business server that blackberry wants you to buy.

    People speak highly of the IBM warranty, do you think they'd repair/replace the screen on my T23? Warranty is up early in 2005. There is a group of small white smudges on the screen at the bottom, an inch or two up. It's not a group of stuck pixels, or something stuck on the screen, it looks more like a defect in the screen.

    If you look really closely at it, oddly enough the smudges blend in. It's only when you're a foot or two away that it becomes noticeable.

    Also, if you move the screen, it visibily pulsates around one of the smudges

    Were there any other addons besides "Quest for the King" and "Pennies and Prizes"?

    I keep hearing of vague third-party things, but never anything I've been able to definately say yes or no on.

    hell, my bloody neon would do just a hair under 120, and that was because it was governed to that.. remove the governor and they were good for about 140.

    I went from driving a K-Car (wasn't mine) that would take 29 seconds to get to 60mph(it was broken) to a neon that was 9.5, to a firebird that is sub 6.

    i was actually considering the smart until i heard about the 0-60 time.

    probably going to stick with a mini cooper s, the up coming pontiac solstice, or just accept that the car will need CONSTANT repairs, and get the Neon SRT-4.
