yea, but your solution isn't as easy as buying this device and plugging it into a USB port. People generally don't want to go through the hassle of adding a card and running linux and setting up mythWhatever. They obviously have a target market that isn't you.
What type of recording can I do with radioSHARK?
With the radioSHARK, you can record what you are listening to at the moment by selecting record, or you can set the radioSHARK to record at a specific date and time. The radioSHARK also allows time-shift recording to "pause" live radio, although this recording cannot be saved as a file.
errr... so you can't save the recording? It's just paused for a long time? WTF? I'm sure you'll be able to get the recorded file if you try but it won't be supported by the software? I guess this means not being able to put on an iPod, burn to CD, etc...
This device just got a lot less appealing.
"So why don't video game publishers try to capitalize on the summer months, when the market isn't flooded with competitors and people seem eager to spend money on entertainment?"
My best guess would be because most people go outside and do things in the summer. Most of my gaming is done in the winter when there isn't much to do outside and I just feel like being lazy and warm inside.
Most people want to get out of the office/house/dwelling/box/whatever during the summer and enjoy nice weather and outdoor activities. I couldn't imagine rushing to the store to get the latest and greatest game only to spend my precious summer hours in front of the TV.
I like gaming just as much as the next Joe Blow, but summer is not the time for it IMHO.
It looks like if the engine finds an exact match for what you searched for (try looking for "American Mathematical Society" on both google and MSN) it returns only that one result.
They can't throw the case out because there haven't been any prior cases to reference.
It has nothing to do with not having the brains to toss the case out. It has everything to do with the issue never being tested in the courts. Court decisions set precident on other rulings so when a new issue is presented it has to be taken into careful consideration regardless of whether it seems stupid.
The power never left the hands of the consumer. Ignorance is not repression.
I'm glad you realize that you are speaking out of your element. Read up on DNS and you will be a lot better informed. This is nothing like number portability. They are both sequences of numbers that uniquely identify you at a given time (important!) but that's where the similarity ends.
exactly... this isn't for the model rockets that you launch in your back yard or some other local field. This is for the model rockets that you launch in a controlled setting with certified people making sure everything checks out OK before the rocket is launched and goes over mach 1 headed towards space.

Regardless of the third definition, sports require actual physical activity. Sitting on your ass moving a mouse and punching keys is not a sport much less an actual "job".
So does this mean that the A/V quality of the film will degrade as I watch it? If this thing is slowly going dark over 8 hours after I open it and the movie is say 3 -> 4 hours long, will I notice a loss in quality as the film progresses?
I imagine that Hi-Fi DVD players will not like these discs one bit...
Yes, I did RTFA (well, the linked material anyway)
Look... whatever... nobody is going to ban PCs or pen & paper or your brain or math or your TV set.
These people have their own agenda, however they aren't stupid by any stretch (which they would have to be if these interpreted outcomes have any chance of happening; think about it, don't just react). Calm down, go back to what you were doing and forget about this...
go to a record store (an actual record store not best buy, wal-mart, target, whatever) and ask one of the clerks how many 'regulars' they have and how often they are in the store. You might be surprised that many customers come in more than once a week and buy more than one album per visit.
don't assume that other people don't do something just because you and/or the people you know do.
please go and read the actual patent app. before posting ignorant comments. You might find that your digital watch, cell phone, mouse, pda or whatever has nothing to do with what they are trying to patent.
I dislike MS business practices as much as the next guy, but please be informed....
OK, I have a question. When you purchase a DVD you are paying for the media and a licensing fee to watch the movie. Why is it then that If I want another copy of the movie (say it got scratched) I have to pay the same price again (including the licensing fee) when all I want is a new copy of the media? I have already paid to watch the contents of the media.
I have also run into problems where you may have purchased the full screen version of a film by mistake when you meant to purchase the wide screen version. Try to take the film back to the store for an exchange and you'll get the run-around from them saying that they cannot take the movie back due to copyright laws. Again, this is a bunch of bull. I just want the movie I paid to license in another format. Is it so wrong to want, no expect these things?
"It gives people totally private worlds." it also removes people from social interaction
Not only that, but iPods and other mass storage music players seem to have removed the concept of an 'album' from peoples minds. I do own an iPod, however I find it much more enjoyable to bring a discman and a good pair of headphones to work and actually listen to an album from start to finish (instead of skipping around and listening to random songs).
There -is- something to be said for vinyl, not least of which is the fact that you actually end up paying a lot more attention to what you're listening to.
"every computer you buy has been certified by the FCC not to cause harmful interference."
right... and that's all. They have to approve the device to not interfere with other transmissions that they govern.
This is an apples and oranges comparision to what the EFF is trying to limit.
They should fix the text on the site then... It's a little misleading. After I read it again I realized that I missed the "also".

uhhh... stop playing video games?

Anyone else noticing this?
This is not 'informative'. This is a link to an April Fools Day joke which was broadbase on NPR's 'All things considered'.
People, at least follow the link...

In more ways than I care to explain to you... Yes, it is.
I'm not the only person who feels this way either.

;)
ummm... yeah. I personally would rather find someone who would go for the "domination allnighers" and forget about any sort of gaming whatsoever
bah... prior art.
I agree that the whole patent/copyright/trademark/etc thing is getting out of hand, however there are rules...
so the only two sports that you can 'geek-out' on are rock climbing and cycling?
Has anyone ever gone SCUBA diving? Plenty of stuff to geek out on equipment wise and -lots- of physiological stuff.
Granted the initial expense is high, however you can spend well over that on a new tricked out bike.
well I do for one.
actually lots of people do.

It works great.
That's why I have a tivo :)
