    As chairman and CEO of Canopy [canopy.com] I've done a lot for the Open Source community. I've promoted investments in companies like ... Trolltech [trolltech.com] producing the incredible QT widget set used by the KDE [kde.org] project.

    The move to BTX will also bring us closer to a fully legacy-free PC, with PS/2, serial and parallel ports already beginning to disappear from prototype motherboards.

    So now I'll have to buy expansion cards (and waste slots) to use my IBM Model M, UPS comms cable, modem and printer?

    Taking a 100% Microsoft client-server systems environment and simply adding Linux based desktops to the mix is a bit like dropping a mongoose into a snake pit -- short term savings on licensing and hardware will be eaten up by increased support costs and decreased operational stability

    Microsoft Servers crashing more when Linux is used on the desktop sounds pretty shady to me.
