Well, some people might find your 'expression' to be insulting. If I run around yelling homophobic comments, or yelling ethnic slurs, would it be considered freedom of expression? Or would I end up making new friends in court?
Thing is that 'expression' is a very vague and open term. Insults can be an expression. Bad language can be an expression. Racism and calls to kill people for being 'heathens' can be an expression. And sometimes this magic 'get out of responsibility free' card works.
The main reason it's annoying is because it's clearly supposed to resonate with the First Amendment for people, which it has absolutely nothing to do with (unless his school board is Congress for some reason.)
The fact that he's Canadian makes it all the more interesting.
Second, if a student missed any essential classes because he is suspended, wouldn't it make all subsequent classes pointless because student won't be able to understand them (or, worse, misleading because student will misunderstand them)?
Right, so in order to combat this, a student has to either:
a) Work extra hard in his free time to study the topic enough to understand them b) Fail miserably and have to resit/restudy or waste a year.
Both of which are punishments.
Its also rather symbolic. Kinda like being "Suspended from work with pay". Its meant to warn you that you might end up permanently like that.
Schools in North America at least--if not everywhere in the West--seem to think that their disciplinary powers extend to any actions committed by students anywhere during their years of attendance..
I remember seeing this young person tossing stones near a car, and this old guy came and shouted with him, demanded to know what school he attended and went off to complain to the headmaster.
I think its the idea that since you're spending most of your day at school, they're in charge of making you a 'good person' and not just imparting knowledge. At lower levels anyway.

For one thing, this has nothing to do with talking, so I guess you could call it "Freedom of Expression", but this excuse can justify anything you want.
Not saying anything about it particular to this case, just that its so very overused its become tiring. Pretty much anything can be justified, including urinating on religious symbols and taking images of them (and yes that happened).
But think of the profit loss! You think this country was founded on the principles of taking care of future generations?

I only had a problem once with Kubuntu. Basically it crashed during upgrade and when it came back my mouse and keyboard wouldn't work. But everything got fixed when I chose 'update' again.
Never had problems otherwise over the past 3 years or so.

Why worry? Its not like it takes too much time or effort to update to the next version. At least this way if people hate Unity they aren't forced to use it.
I don't agree. Theoretically its great, but the tasks you perform on:
1. A tiny screen touchscreen 2. A tablet-device screen 3. A netbook 4. A 19 inch monitor
are different, and have different needs. The mobile device needs to work with fat fingers mashing away at the screen. The large monitor doesn't, and might have a graphics card powerful enough to get the lead out. Similarly, the stuff I do on my computer is different than what I do on my mobile. When was the last time you shuffled files around with your mobile? Its a rather silly example but it explains the task.

It looks too messy for me. It looks great for a tablet, but what am I going to use it for my desktop for?
The idea that it can be used for everything is incredibly silly. Every device has its characteristics and its requirements. The giant tiles will look silly on my computer, and I can hit an icon quite effectivly with a mouse, I don't need a target range.
If they offered different 'views' (like KDE Desktop/Netbook) it might be ok, but as it is its a horrible mess.
If the passwords were properly hashed (with a good salt) and were strong enough such that a dictionary attack couldn't break them, you wouldn't have 'thousands' of leaks.

So I don't think its as independent from school as this summary wants to make you believe.

Actually I solved it by inserting another USB mouse. It was quite weird, the touchpad was dead but the USB wasn't. Then I used the onscreen keyboard.
The point in giving demos to people who already bought it.
Doesn't it negate the entire point of the demo? They're sold already, show it to people who aren't sure yet instead.

There's already an addon (from mozilla labs) which does that. It doesn't need to be extended more than that.
I use it, because I prefer the extra screen space. Other people might not like it. But I actually find it very useful.
Firefox should stick to what it does best. Addons. Its then a simple case - "You don't like the address bar? Get this addon"
By the way in case anyone's interested - the addon is called "Less Chrome HD"
