  2. Steve is pissed off on Apple Nixes Live Webcast, Satellite Feed · · Score: 1

Think Secret has let the cat out of the bag. Since Steve's the master of suspense, he probably wanted to use the 'one more thing' line. But now the whole world knows what to expect so he probably called the whole thing off (did they ever announce it on their QuickTime site?). The lawsuit against Think Secret is basically a confirmation of the low end Mac.

He did it with ATI a couple of years ago when they had a press release slip out days in advance of MacWorld expo. Apple refused to sell the ATI cards they had prepped for the new Macs.

That's why a mandatory bottle return system, where you bring the bottles back so the can be used again, should make sense.

Of course, that would put some strain on the distribution system, but hey, an empty truck that goes from the supermarket to the distribution point oculd always take some crates with empty bottles back.

Hell, it used to work in the Netherlands. Until the Euro, then the deposit money was lowerd to 25 cents so it didn't make sense to bring the bottles back. And from what I understand is that our current government has completely sold out to the packaging industry by ditching the mandatory return system for a voluntarily one.

What's next? The motion picture industry giving away tickets to a drive cinema showing 10 year old flicks as a settlement?

  11. Dell's way of selling on Dell fights Alien Invasion · · Score: 2, Insightful

Dell is different. You usually see them coming in organisations with HP or IBM (and 7 years ago Apple) on their way out. This is done on price. Usually with a big 'contractual discount', so you'll forget checking in with HP once in a while.

But the trouble is then, the competition has vanished. There's no way you can ask someone else for an offer on Dell than your Dell account manager.

So, as an IT manager you really need to stay in check with technical developments, realism and pricing in the rest of the market since Dell will try to upsell you all kinds of crap for a premium when you don't really need it.

Dell, not a cheap as you'd think!

weblisten.com provides relatively new albums on MP3, and a fair percentage, but not everything on Windows Media.

All you can eat downloads during a night or a weekend. Sadly it's mostly IE/Windows only and some of the MP3s (the older ones) are of questionable quality. But for trying it out the weekend pass is a steal.
