  1. At some point, more capacity doesn't solve anything. Adding more lanes to fix a traffic problem becomes like buying a bigger belt to fix a weight problem.

    If a road becomes less congested, the advantage will be arbitraged away as people use it as an alternate route and people moving further away for better real estate deals only that are now worth the commute.

    Exactly this....

    I'm likely more conservative than 90% of the population here but I'm also becoming a pragmatist. If it works as designed, I think a universal income would be significantly better than the current hodgepodge of social programs currently in the US.

    But in the words of Diogenese, we humans have complicated every gift of the gods.

    How would this really get sold to the public, that Bill & Melinda Gates gets a larger check from the government than a single unemployed person? (2 people are more than 1). And once that exception is made, then means testing would quickly turn it into a traditional welfare system.

    And how does this not turn into 'bread and circuses'? Whoever promises the biggest raise for the citizenry gets elected, regardless of the effect on national debt.

    Your point would mean more if the UN representatives from any country were elected democratically. If this goes through, the "controllers" of the Internet as far as a Briton would be concerned, are just as accountable as they are today.

    I'll second your statement in the first paragraph. It may not be the best option, but I don't see what you're describing isn't equivalent to half of my classes where I only ever saw the TA teach, or the Prof was there but simply read off slides. A Prof that only teaches to justify a salary isn't better than a pre-recorded lecture.
