At some point, more capacity doesn't solve anything. Adding more lanes to fix a traffic problem becomes like buying a bigger belt to fix a weight problem.
If a road becomes less congested, the advantage will be arbitraged away as people use it as an alternate route and people moving further away for better real estate deals only that are now worth the commute.
I'm likely more conservative than 90% of the population here but I'm also becoming a pragmatist. If it works as designed, I think a universal income would be significantly better than the current hodgepodge of social programs currently in the US.
But in the words of Diogenese, we humans have complicated every gift of the gods.
How would this really get sold to the public, that Bill & Melinda Gates gets a larger check from the government than a single unemployed person? (2 people are more than 1). And once that exception is made, then means testing would quickly turn it into a traditional welfare system.
And how does this not turn into 'bread and circuses'? Whoever promises the biggest raise for the citizenry gets elected, regardless of the effect on national debt.
Actually, if Mitt had been elected, the Jovians would not have invaded in the year 2015 and we would not have been shipped off to Callisto in 2025... That's how it looked like in my time machine.
Your point would mean more if the UN representatives from any country were elected democratically. If this goes through, the "controllers" of the Internet as far as a Briton would be concerned, are just as accountable as they are today.
I'll second your statement in the first paragraph. It may not be the best option, but I don't see what you're describing isn't equivalent to half of my classes where I only ever saw the TA teach, or the Prof was there but simply read off slides. A Prof that only teaches to justify a salary isn't better than a pre-recorded lecture.

It's called public domain... It applies to anything created before Steamboat Willie
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
As long as he's the most spectacular, luxurious, yuge, greatest emperor we've ever seen. It'll be just great.
Exactly this....

Unless you're member of a non-profit with "Constitutional" in its name.
It's ok, the galaxy is pretty much destroyed if he comes back anyway...
Yes, I'm still a little bitter :)
That would imply management is capable of judging the quality of their deliverables ....
Queen bees don't have barbs in their stingers - when a new queen is needed, several are laid at once and the first strong one out stings the rest.
It worked during the Cold War...
Darn right. Don't use C. Only a strongly-type language can control firepower of that magnitude with minimal defects.
I think Loki just wanted to cut into a guy's face? He didn't seem like a very friendly fellow in the movie...
The whole point of the education system is to make the square students fit into the round holes of standardized testing.
My kingdom for a mod point!
Kind of like reverse psychology crossed with Barbara Streisand?
So, for their next game, will Bioware promise their Day 1 DLC will allow you to not destroy the entire galaxy in one of three colors..?

Not even that. How do you know the compiler isn't inserting backdoors?

Barack Obama is as Australian as Outback steakhouse is.

Also the most famous aviator from Purdue University, until Apollo 11.
Well, I'll let it go as long as it can tell us if there are any smokies to watch out for.
