That is the most moronic reasoning I have ever seen. I don't care if that is what the law states, it is obscene. Aren't we supposed to be "saving the children" here, not "saving the people who think children are not being saved"?

A really big fuck you to anyone who thinks he should be in jail for this. Think about this from the perspective if you did this yourself. You really think you should go to JAIL for making a video with children from a classroom randomly inserted into it?

Yeah, I'm angry here. What kind of justice is this.

You do realize that your kids are supposed to be learning, right?

So, while "copying" or "looking off someone's work" is "using available resources" in the business world, in the context of school it also completely defeats the purpose of an assignment when the child is supposed to do the work in order to learn.

In the business world, let's say a company can copy/look at someone's new product and create a replica that they can offer cheaper (assuming no copyrights/patents are broke bla bla legal stuff). That's great, and the company does not care one bit about the learning process to come up with the idea, and that's fine. But your students are supposed to be doing assignments in order to learn (gasp, shock); the end result is not usually the point.

"Cheating - asking a friend for an answer, Business - Collaboration. This person is a team player."
Same thing as copying, that's not collaboration. Your student has learned nothing.

Eh I think this is fair enough.

They don't shown porn related stuff on the instant / suggestion, but you can still search for it (believe me, you can).

So now they don't come up with torrents and stuff automatically, but you can still search for it if you want. I can see the logic, if someone was innocently searching for like "How I Met Your Mother" to see some info about it, and the first thing that comes up is an automatic link to "How I Met Your Mother Season 1 Torrent". Doesn't that kinda make Google not as innocent any more as opposed to someone specifically searching for that torrent? In this case you would have someone residentially finding out about and acquiring the torrent via Google alone.

I know that is stretching and I'm taking this logic with a grain of salt.. because of course they aren't intentionally putting torrents on top, it's just the algorithm maybe choosing it. But still, food for thought..

Anyway, I'm OK with this kind of automatic filtering.

You don't think there are many artists in that industry that truly want to use 3D technology to tell amazing stories with the help of visuals?

I'm betting most of the people on their high horse here have never even SEEN a new 3d movie. I know I know, you are all too cool to go to a theatre and put on dorky glasses. Wait this is slashdot, no you aren't.

I have only seen Avatar, and I have to say it was quite the experience. I thought the movie itself was OK, nothing special but a good action flick. The visuals were stunning and really brought the movie alive.
