When I first started at this job, I found out that the tapes they were using for backups were write-protected! They dutifully changed the tapes every morning, but nothing could ever be written to them! I checked the logs, and the last successful backup was like three years ago.
One time when I saw a bird in the sky, my first reaction was to shoot it down with the energy turret. At home, I have the urge to dodgejump down the hallway. RJack-45 ps: I'd go with the flak cannon
CW is "Continuous Wave", which is what they use to transmit Morse code. The operator was able to pick up that 40 microwatt signal from 546 miles away. Impressive. Most impressive.
Sure, on a piano, they are the same note... but that's only because the notes on a piano are "locked down"... I think they called this "well tempered tuning". It's a compromise to make all chords played on the piano sound good.
With wind and string instruments, you have to play the position sharper or flatter, depending on the chord.
I had an AMD K6-2 450MHz machine with 384 MB of RAM, and I never had any problems with it. You'd probably want to turn off all the fancy stuff, though.
How about not lumping yourself into the "white" category? Do you not know what your racial background is? English? German? Scottish? Swedish? What are you? It bothers me that people refer to themselves as "white" or "black". You have a culture you can cling to. Learn about it. Be proud. Now as for the government lumping everyone into the "white" category, no I don't think that's right. Caucasian cultures have been and will continue to be oppressed just the same.
But when you say "I could care less", it means you don't even care enough to bother caring less. Like it's not even worth your time to try caring less.
Manitoba does. Reasoning behind this is that it was paid for by taxpayers, and there's not reason why we shouldn't have access to it. Ontario began something called GeoSmart, but it has apparently been cancelled. Municipal projects would receive funding for 50% of a GIS project, and would in turn share their data with other GeoSmart members. The GeoGratis site has quite a bit of free GIS data.. Especially LandSat imagery. They also have landcover data for all of Ontario... and small scale base data for all of Canada. I'd like to see more provinces follow MB's lead.
To determine your location, you need to know how long the signal took to get to you. GPS satellites send out their location and a timestamp... A pulsar just sends out a steady pulse. I'm not sure how this could tell you your distance from it... Maybe if you knew the rate at which the pulsar's rotational speed is decreasing (do they slow? I dunno) Hmm. I guess what they had in mind is determining just the direction that each pulsar is in... and where the lines cross, that's where you are. Cool idea. I'll have to search for the article.
Here's another LED Sign. It's by the owner of a computer store in my town, and I use it to ask him what kinds of used junk he has in. And for ASCII art:)

In Canada, there's a move towards making data, whose gathering was paid for by taxpayers, available for free. Manitoba has this set up, and other provinces will in the future. There is a sick amount of data on there.

I've read many books(at least 10) on my Visor, and I don't find it very difficult. Once I get into the book, I don't even realize I'm reading it off my palm. In fact, I'd much prefer reading it off my palm than my computer monitor (better on the eyes)
A little off topic, but it's about news reading on PDAs nonetheless. I prefer iSilo. My Visor is really low on memory, and AvantGo takes up WAY too much room (iSilo is 47k). Although I haven't tried AvantGo(wouldn't fit) I think iSilo works pretty well. Most pages end up looking pretty nice(Slashdot included)
It was obviously a blind cave salamander. Sheesh!
Thanks, Marvin!

You should check yourself for viruses.... or look in your hosts.txt file or something. :P
That's not normal

Unfair editing is a concept as old as speaking.
Oh, I thought Michael Moore invented it...?
I think he meant the ø letter. Tørvalds

While in Paris, I met a German guy who taught me the term "mundfotze"... Do many people use this word? I think it's hilarious.

Probably will be used for Apple's "piles" concept.

Wow... I gotta stop telling people about stuff I read on Slashdot.

Holy crap! That's all I have to say about that :)
