A triple A game company that gets it right is companies like EgoSoft who removed all DRM from their X3 franchise and has already announced the new X3 sequel will not contain any form of DRM at all.
DRM only hurts legit players and lags them up, making games unplayable for legit customers. And cripples PC gamers and PC's
There are quire a few triple A game companies that know DRM is shit and does not help at all against piracy and it only hurts legit customers.
People who buy SimCity 5 are total morons if they buy it knowing the DRM it has, cause in a couple years that 59 dollars goes in the toilet when EA unplugs the login server for SimCity 5.
they've already killed game servers as little as 2 years old in the past. Making money spent on the game totally useless.
Anyone who defends companies like EA or Ubisoft are just ignorant of the facts, and it's those 2 companies that are destroying PC gaming the most.
If I had a choice between piracy or selling my company to EA, I'd more than welcome the pirates. Cause Valve already published a study that games without DRM piracy HELPS sales, due to word of mouth advertising as well as most pirates will pirate for the single player action and fall in love with the title and buy it for online play or coop play or to support the developers in general if they enjoy the game as a try before you buy. Which was published by Valve that piracy helps pc game sales.
it's only companies that use draconian DRM that continue to lose money and eventually blame piracy when it's their own company shooting themself in the foot (See Ubisoft's CEO blaming piracy for last years sales drop, when in fact it was most their games requiring always on DRM such as AC series, Anno 2070, and most everything else they released this past year)
i hate that clicky sound, i listened to the audio example on that page and it's waaay too loud and obnoxious..
i dont want my keyboard making noises
i love my silent keyboard, only thing you hear is my fingers lightly tapping the keys, i hate those clicky keyboards and wind up busting them over my knee and trashing them.
i want peace and quiet while gaming, typing, etc for voice chats, etc not some obnoxious clicky's driving everyone mad and myself insane
Anno 2070 did the same thing making people log in to play and had server side save games
Skidrow cracked it and make a tiny server emulator so it didn't require you to log in, it would drop save files on the local pc then.
Anno had the very same as sim city where you logged in and there were tax rates and persistent shit shared between users
but the crack stripped the DRM and let people play single player mode on Anno without requiring logging in and downloading all that bullshit.
Skidrow is claiming EA used very similar system that Anno 2070 did and they already have a beta crack out and will soon have the full crack out that works just like Anno 2070 crack
I've seen many documentaries on North Korea, especially the Vice guide docs which are awesome.
But the entire country of North Korea lives like a Cult. Kim Jung- is just like a "Jim Jones" of Jonestown, he pretends he's some supernatural spiritual leader/god/messenger
the people worship their "dear leader" and even make homage and pilgrimages to the "supposed" birthplaces of Kim Il-sung / Kim Jong-il / Kim Jong-un. Each father passed down this "how the cult works" to the son, and the culture is so brainwashed in this cult they agree and believe everything.
There are rare interviews with some people who believe the leader has super powers, and that they actually believe that they aren't in a famine, they may not having nothing to eat by mouth, but they swear with teary eyes that their leader provides sustenance through the air and sun to sustain the people until food arrives.
I mean these people are batshit insane, the entire country is batshit insane all part of this cult. It's a hardcore religious cult "100 times" more fervent and hardcore than Jonestown ever would be.
Eventually this "dear leader" will realize with all the sanctions his country will die off and people will die of starvation and he may likely be assassinated under growing paranoia. So what happened when Jim Jones paranoia reached epic levels? well out came the Flavor-Aid and Cyanide.
I really believe the same thing will happen with North Korea, except it won't be Flavor-Aid and Cyanide...
it will be suicide by nuke, the leader's missile may not reach America but he can reach Japan or China or possibly the American coast if lucky. And he will launch his nukes and the entire countries people are ready to die already.
watch interviews they have a prophecy of nuclear war already, that a blinding flash will carry them into heaven with their dead leader to watch over them for eternity. Almost taking the story of Christ and applying it to the countries leader.
So the people want to be vaporized they are so brainwashed that it's part of their religion. So as a final suicidal act, I could very well see North Korea launching some weak nuke over to some country then getting rained on by hundreds of tactical nukes laying waste to everything left of North Korea which in the people's eyes fulfills their prophecy which in their minds North Korea will win all wars!
thats how their religion and cult of personality is setup, so that even if they lose, in the country's dogma they ultimately win cause if wiped out they spend eternity with their leader.
it's a really fucked up place and cult.
if you have never seen it watch this documentary, it was mind blowing how the entire country is brainwashed and the entire country is a cult that works just like Jonestown
I protest all Ubisoft just on principle since they cluster most all their pc games with "always on" DRM so no i wont pay even if it was $2.99
they require you to log in to their server to save a single player game on Anno 2070.
with the crack you don't have to log into their servers, the crack creats a fake mini server that the game drops the save file onto your own pc, allowing you to play the single player campaign and the continuous mode unhindered
anno's drm is extreme draconian requiring always on, plus requiring you to log in to their servers just to save. They pass this off as using log in to their server to save as a way to trade goods "mined, crafted, etc" with other players. But it's used as a form of DRM as well.
but luckily their log in server was reverse engineered and both the Skidrow and Reloaded cracks reverse engineered the server and include it with the cracked game so you can save your game on your local hdd.
That's the whole thing that devs just won't understand...
DRM does not hurt or hinder pirates at all... not one iota.
DRM only harms legit users, who pay for a game to only realize it doesn't work right, too sluggish, laggy and when they complain on the official forums they get their computer blamed as the problem and told to "upgrade your cpu / upgrade your video card / upgrade to a SSD / etc"
when in fact it's the DRM calling home every x minutes and causing a problem giving legit users subpar experience.
When Assassins Creed 1, 2 and 3 came out I actually bought 1 and 2, but I downloaded the crack to remove the DRM.
part 3 I had had enough of Ubisoft's bullshit hate against all legit pc users so I pirated 3, and the cracked version works better than the legit version, people on forums complaining of lag spikes or stutters in framerate.
after downloaded the AC3 crack that imitates the AC3 DRM server I got 0 stutters and run around 80-100+ fps with a EVGA GTX 670
I do support the indie games, and games that don't ship with DRM such as the X3 franchise, their X3 reunion started with DRM but they quickly submitted a patch that deleted all DRM and all subsequent X3 releases have shipped with zero DRM and promise the new X3 coming out soon won't have DRM also.
So games like that I will financially support as best as I can, and indie games like Minecraft/ Towns / etc.
Simcity 5 will be cracked easily and only legit users will be harmed due to drm server outages / latency / etc. While skidrow / reloaded drm cracks will just imitate the server like was done with anno 2070 or AC3 and pirates will win yet again...
only way to beat pirates is don't try and fight them, we'll support non drm games financially, but you start slapping DRM on dvd's/blurays/video games then yell yea I will be pirating
Ubisoft tries this with their futuristic simcity clone Anno 2070
Anno 2070 required always on and connect to remote server to save
but it was cracked, the reloaded crack replaced the dll and tricks the game into thinking it's connected to the remote server when it's connected to itself and it drops the save file on your pc.
the default login is username: RELOADED pass: reloaded
I've been playing Anno 2070 pirated with the server side DRM ripped out of it, lets you play continous build mode as well as the campaign mode. And you can play coop games on the LAN just can't play online.
which is fine since I dont play simcity style games for online multiplayer anyhow.
The group that cracked Ubisoft's ANNO 2070 server side saves already have a beta of the crack for SimCity 5, they are claiming to have it full functional in about a week.
BTW Anno 2070 is more fun than any simcity game out anyhow. And they required always online and connected to server to save your game, but it was cracked and save games redirected to local pc so it can be done.
yea my mom's pc is an old single core 3ghz intel with windows 98 se... I have it locked down and she uses firefox for everything, I have facebook, isp webmail, youtube bookmarked for her.
i put shortcut on desktop for firefox renamed "web browser" shortcut to solitaire and some web bookmark shortcuts on desktop
I also have tightvnc installed so if she ever has question, problem, or whatnot I can log right in.
if she screws it up I've got the image backed up on external usb hard drive that I can tell her to plug in on phone and I've actually done a system restore from backup image with her on the phone then hop back in via vnc to make a couple settings.
I have upnp turned off and tons of crap on the router, that pc is so locked down behind the firewall it's crazy:P and luckily she has never got a virus or spyware thanks to adblocks, peerblock running at startup set to auto load a known spyware/adware/malware ip list from iblocklist, combined with how I setup the router.
only thing I can come in on is vnc, of course it's of no loss if something happens to it cause it just takes a couple minutes to restore from backup image and it's all ready to go again.
so I tell her, she can't fuck it up, and she knows she don't have to be scared around it that she might mess something up. She's disabled and has occasional petit mal seizures which make her sleepy and groggy, so she keeps a notepad with my instructions on her little computer desk. She didn't care for laptop or tablet either she likes to pull up to her desk in her wheelchair and use the mouse and full size keyboard.
she hated my ipod touch and android tablet and my old laptop.
firefox now default turns off javascript in the browser unless you specifically tell it to accept, similar to noscript.
which is the same bug as the original article fixes. But firefox is still refusing to allow javascript by default and until further notice all javascript plugins will be disabled by default in firefox.
I was pointing out some people are confusing Java and Javascript, I explained they are 2 totally different creatures.
I've made a few little fun gadgets for personal use, a winamp type clone using the jlayer library to stream shoutcast/icecast stations as well as my own playlists. Spent weeks learning java swing mainly manually before I started playing with Eclipse windowbuilder plugin for swing/awt/etc. the windowbuilder plugin made it so simple for me to make my little winamp clone skinnable.:)
course i've spent a year or little more learning Java and have just now started playing with opengl 3d graphics but can't make up my mind which opengl library I like best yet, so far I've played around with JOGL and LWJGL, which I think are the 2 most popular libraries, Minecraft and most the indie steam games use LWJGL. So I've sorta been sticking with it.
Anyhow you have the option to uninstall Java browser plugin and just keep the SDK installed, but I usually just disable it in browser just in case I ever do come across a need for it I can enable it for a specific site if need be.
I know they got it wrong on Windows XP early service packs
Service pack 1 caused a lot of controversy blue screening everyone, Microsoft took the service pack down for a few days and removed the offending patch and changed it around to fix the issue.
those that had already got it were told to uninstall the service pack via safe mode or system restore.
then when XP service pack 2 came about, a lot of funky hardware started not working or again causing bluescreens but that was until drivers were updated since many 3rd party hardware companies were either procrastinating or didn't care to check their compatibility with the new service pack.
so yea I agree service packs and fuck up shit when you aren't careful and pay attention to what the service pack includes and make sure your hardware supports any of the new changes listed, and even then it's a "fingers crossed" moment when you reboot.
I love linux and I have my 2 slackware boxes and been running slackware since the 2.0.29 kernel.
but I always kept a windows box as my gaming pc, you just won't get any modern games on it, If I want to play modern games, Far Cry 3, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, Dragon Age franchises such as those, and many countless others I'll stick to windows gaming.
I'm not going to install linux on my i7, 16gig ram, dual evga ftw 670 sli, 120g ssd / wd black 2tb data drive gaming rig to play games that came out 5+ years ago.
and most people with gaming rigs won't unless they dual boot to fuck around with some nostalgia, and definitely not going to pay 20 bucks for some 10 year old game anyhow.
but even with my whining, it is a step in the right direction and I do hope game developers take notice and see that linux users WANT modern games, but it will first mean game developers will HAVE to stop developing for DirectX9/10/11. And you will have a hard time getting that to happen with contracts setup with AMD and Nvidia graphics cards who build their cards around DirectX primarily. With opengl as more an afterthought it seems.
so you will have to get video card companies to change their habits and open up their drivers and support or talk microsoft into bringin directx to linux (never will happen) before any modern game companies will seriously bring their triple A games to linux platform.
Other than indie companies and opengl built games which can be ported much easier. And Java based games such as Towns, Dwarfs, Minecraft, etc.
works pretty good, although I don't like the interface, it has all the goodies, usually released on demonoid.mk / kat.ph / thepiratebay.se all at same time.
Liz has already stated there is no 3d acceleration for X or any graphic desktop
the only acceleration that WORKS right this moment is video playback of the 3 video codecs the chip allows. x264 being primary.
there are projects in the work to being 3d acceleration desktop enviroment to the PI
BUT NONE EXIST AT THE MOMENT... all those links you posted are in the works, none are finished, none have the support of Broadcom and the RasPI foundation has already stated they WILL NOT release or open source their graphics drivers for 3d acceleration.
there are many projects like you posted that are trying to reverse engineer and bring 3d acceleration to the PI
but sorry all those you posted are only projects, none are finished and none work at this time, there are a few alpha tests but the closest X windows 3d accelerated test was done buy a guy on the forum for LXDE and it's so much in alpha that it works for a little while until you try to click the scroll button on a web browser and it crashes locking up the pi requiring reboot.
stop spreading nonsense. there are projects, but NO current 3d accelerated desktops for the PI and Broadcom has already stated they will not open source or release the code to make it happen, thus the projects to reverse engineer it were born
there is 1 guy trying to write drivers sorta reverse engineering in one post that is 5 pages long but it keeps crashing when scrolling a browser
but Liz stickied a post that there are no 3d accelerated drivers for X or for anything at the moment.
the only thing that has acceleration is video playback of h264 videos or 2 others if you purchase their licenses and receive a serial/hash to put into the firmware's config.txt on boot which unlocks vc1 and the other video playback
but that's all for now.
it's on the forum and posted by Liz herself there are no accelerated 3d drivers for the pi
and only 1 guy working on reverse engineering it which if successful there's already gossip that broadcom would send him a dmca takedown notice for it
there is no hardware acceleration, tested with Rapbian both softfloat/hardfloat versions, Arch, and Debian at 1600x900 it never got over 10 - 15 frames per second.
it wont run as server, I ran the server and after about 3 to 5 mins of "working" it finally started but connections would time out when running on the lan and if 2 people connected it slowed to a crawl.
without broadcom releasing any video acceleration the thing is worthless for gaming unless it's 2d.
there is no acceleration in X, and the only thing that gets acceleration is omxplayer playing h264 or the 2 other codecs but for the 2 other codecs you must pay a license fee to get a serial to unlock the feature in the firmware.
it's a great product but yea, they got a lot of work to do to make minecraft playable other than for the sake of saying "I got it to run on raspberry pi"
tested on raspberry pi model B 512mb 2nd revision board the newest version of the board fully updated os's on a class 10 sdcard, tested 3 different class 10 sd cards, no difference.
Yea the whole thing was British led, but the fight was about Canada, a commonwealth of the british.
Canadian troops sided with british and beat US troops at every turn. leading to the US defeat and the burning of the capital not once, but twice
another anecdote from history
"Attempts to invade Canada during the War of 1812 failed even more spectacularly. An early attempt to invade failed before it began when Gen. William Hull, reportedly frightened into a state of near incoherence, surrendered his entire army at Detroit without firing a shot. Two months later another attempt was bungled when Gen. Stephen Van Rensselaer failed to persuade his militia to cross the U.S.-Canada border. A small detachment of troops which entered Canada was shot down and forced to surrender while Van Rensellaer's troops stood by and watched. Another invasion attempt, on 19 November 1812, collapsed when American troops refused to leave New York State and forced their leader, Gen. Henry Dearborn, to march them back to Pittsburgh. Less than two weeks later, Gen. "Apocalypse" Smythe twice ordered his troops to cross the Niagara, both times failing in his courage and calling off the attacks. On returning from the second attempt, the soldiers turned their weapons on Smythe, forcing him to flee to Virginia."
We were spanked at every turn. War of 1812 is the great embarrassment, hell it's barely even taught in public schools except via small blurbs of propaganda and the sacking of the whitehouse TWICE is never mentioned when I went through the public school system and didn't know about it until I went to the smithsonian where they have a few burnt bricks and old oil paintings of the burned whitehouse in different stages of repair, then the 2nd burning occured.
On June 2, 1814, Sir George Prévost, Governor General of The Canadas, had written to Cochrane at Admiralty House, in Bailey's Bay, Bermuda, calling for a retaliation against American depredations against non-combatant civilians and private property, as such acts at the time were considered to be against the laws of war. On July 18, Cochrane issued orders to Cockburn informing him that to "deter the enemy from a repetition of similar outrages...You are hereby required and directed to destroy and lay waste such towns and districts as you may find assailable" However, Cochrane also stated "you will spare merely the lives of the unarmed inhabitants of the United States".
Also Canada has burned the white house down twice...

so yea I agree service packs and fuck up shit when you aren't careful and pay attention to what the service pack includes and make sure your hardware supports any of the new changes listed, and even then it's a "fingers crossed" moment when you reboot.
if you read the article it states the car was modified for disabled use.
2nd when he pressed the brakes the car accelerated
which means probably the disability modifications plus bad EGR valve that Toyota had problems with also.
Good luck playing any modern games on linux
And Java based games such as Towns, Dwarfs, Minecraft, etc.
the iWatch already exists using iOS on ipod nano
http://www.amazon.com/Wrist-Jockey-Casual-Grid-watch/dp/B004B7FXHI/ref=cm_lmf_tit_4
there's no need for a new device, this works just fine
http://demonoid.mk/
works pretty good, although I don't like the interface, it has all the goodies, usually released on demonoid.mk / kat.ph / thepiratebay.se all at same time.
id much rather the original demonoid though
Liz has already stated there is no 3d acceleration for X or any graphic desktop
the only acceleration that WORKS right this moment is video playback of the 3 video codecs the chip allows. x264 being primary.
there are projects in the work to being 3d acceleration desktop enviroment to the PI
BUT NONE EXIST AT THE MOMENT... all those links you posted are in the works, none are finished, none have the support of Broadcom and the RasPI foundation has already stated they WILL NOT release or open source their graphics drivers for 3d acceleration.
there are many projects like you posted that are trying to reverse engineer and bring 3d acceleration to the PI
but sorry all those you posted are only projects, none are finished and none work at this time, there are a few alpha tests but the closest X windows 3d accelerated test was done buy a guy on the forum for LXDE and it's so much in alpha that it works for a little while until you try to click the scroll button on a web browser and it crashes locking up the pi requiring reboot.
stop spreading nonsense. there are projects, but NO current 3d accelerated desktops for the PI and Broadcom has already stated they will not open source or release the code to make it happen, thus the projects to reverse engineer it were born
check the forums there is even a sticky
there are no 3d acceleration on the pi at all...
there is 1 guy trying to write drivers sorta reverse engineering in one post that is 5 pages long but it keeps crashing when scrolling a browser
but Liz stickied a post that there are no 3d accelerated drivers for X or for anything at the moment.
the only thing that has acceleration is video playback of h264 videos or 2 others if you purchase their licenses and receive a serial/hash to put into the firmware's config.txt on boot which unlocks vc1 and the other video playback
but that's all for now.
it's on the forum and posted by Liz herself there are no accelerated 3d drivers for the pi
and only 1 guy working on reverse engineering it which if successful there's already gossip that broadcom would send him a dmca takedown notice for it
there is no hardware acceleration, tested with Rapbian both softfloat/hardfloat versions, Arch, and Debian at 1600x900 it never got over 10 - 15 frames per second.
it wont run as server, I ran the server and after about 3 to 5 mins of "working" it finally started but connections would time out when running on the lan and if 2 people connected it slowed to a crawl.
without broadcom releasing any video acceleration the thing is worthless for gaming unless it's 2d.
there is no acceleration in X, and the only thing that gets acceleration is omxplayer playing h264 or the 2 other codecs but for the 2 other codecs you must pay a license fee to get a serial to unlock the feature in the firmware.
it's a great product but yea, they got a lot of work to do to make minecraft playable other than for the sake of saying "I got it to run on raspberry pi"
tested on raspberry pi model B 512mb 2nd revision board the newest version of the board fully updated os's on a class 10 sdcard, tested 3 different class 10 sd cards, no difference.
this is why i never click the image, if it's the size i want I right click -> Copy image
then paste into my pirated photoshop
to fuck with as I please
what's next people whining to photoshop to remove content aware delete that lets me remove their little watermarks and reuse for my own purposes?
sheesh
I use Windstream VDSL 24 megabit
they usually oversale their areas but so far been lucky
on dslreports they have posted they will not be following the 6 strike rule, and they never agreed with it's implementation.
course I've been using Windstream since it was alltell dsl and ive never once got a letter of all my use from demonoid/kat.ph/piratebay/h33t/etc
and windstream still offers free newsgroup access :)
regardless
I don't care if they steal or not
can download Jonathan's entire discography here anyhow: http://kat.ph/jonathan-coulton-discography-t614690.html
You can always download Jonathan's entire discography
http://kat.ph/jonathan-coulton-discography-t614690.html
it's not like any of it matters
then fine Jonathan Coulton for stealing the lyrics from Sir Mix A Lot
a cover of a cover is not theft and never will be...
so cry more.
America's first defeat: http://www.lutins.org/1812.html
Also Canada has burned the white house down twice...
https://www.ptsdforum.org/c/threads/canadian-burning-of-the-american-whitehouse-1812-the-us-national-anthems-origins.1380/
not just once but twice has Canada burned the White House down... So don't piss off Canadians... they are pyromaniacs :P
