I was considering buying one of these yesterday, but decided to wait a week to see if I can find something better. Glad I did now:)
One thing I would like to ask those who have an iBook already: What's the battery life like? It sayed 6 hours in the UK Apple store for the pre-G4 12" version, which would be amazing if it was true. They've changed it to the rather vague "extra-long battery life" for the G4 version.
The Sci-Fi channel didn't cancel Babylon 5. The show had already came to it's natural conclusion before Sci-Fi got it. They didn't even end Crusade, that was TNT.
But they did definitly kill Farscape, which never made sense to me as they (in the UK at least) still show it quite a bit on TV and even those repeats are very popular.
Not to mention it was only *one* year from ending...
Now, I only pray that they release the DVDs with the original Japanese soundtrack and subtitles.
I'm praying they release the DVDs at all in the UK.
Spirited Away has been out for some time around the world, but there are no signs of a DVD release here for at least another year! Yea I could order the region 1 disk, but then I wouldn't be able to watch it on my big TV. Not to mention I'd probably be breaking a few obscure laws if I tried.
Good advice. This service has been abused for many years now by spammers, and now the posibility of a worm using it.
I wonder who/where at Microsoft considered it a good idea to enable this service by default and to allow connections from everywhere. Has anyone out there actually used it?
It was really a suprise to learn just how big these objects are in the sky despite the unimaginable distance. That and just how dim they are! Even our own galaxy is a faint band of light despite us being right inside it. It's a shame really, imagine seeing the Andromeda galaxy like in that picture high in the sky!
Right, so will I get guaranteed high-quality files (160+ kbps for MP3, 96+ for Ogg) and consistent fast downloads? I doubt it.
If I download a file, say 'Pulsedriver - Galaxy.mp3' and it turned out to be 3 and a half minutes of static would I still get charged? Probably.
If I make my own music and people download it from the service, will I get a share of the profits? Can you see it? Nah, didn't think so.
This idea is DOA. Plus the fact that hosting a 4Mb MP3 these days costs very little, and the provider gets much better control over the downloads. What's the point?
anything will be an improvement on the BBC series' special effects
I dunno. They tried to improve Red Dwarfs special effects and ended up making it worse. Sometimes, flashy new special effects are not what you need. A decent and funny story is much much more important.
Thankfully the person it happened to had two machines with the exact same ABit motherboard. He took out the BIOS from the good machine, used it to boot the dead one. Once it was running he put the bad BIOS back and re-flashed it.
I didn't think it would work, but the machine is going great now. Well, until the capacitors starting blowing up... but that's another story...:)
Not bad at all, these songs are getting better. Good work guys!! The bit that caught my attention was in the middle. Sounded like something Weird Al would make!
Now if only we can get the Linux developers drunk at a karaoke bar...
I've found that this always does the trick!

Ah well! Here's hoping the movie goes ahead.
I would like to vote for the entire Visual Basic collection, not just version six. It's a huge pain to use!
...
The only thing that keeps me sane while using it is the sight of that Cobol book on the shelf
Microsoft Dismisses Apple's iTunes for Windows
:) ... *g*
Well did you expect them to congratulate Apple, and give them a pat on the back for a job well done?
Hell really would have froze over
I believe you can get ahold of Australian Region 4 releases (though I'm not 100% sure they are PAL, but it seems likely).
Yep they are! Thanks mate! Your a genius!

this magnificent galaxy is nearly one-fifth the diameter of the full moon
This reminds me of an image I seen lately, here.

Someone really was doing their job over at E, weren't they?
They probably fell asleep during the movie. And can you blame them?
I am drooling over the ten panel desktop display.
You better be careful. Drooling over electrical equipment is bad for your health.

If you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

If you can't C, then you may as well be programming blind.
Nah, even super-advanced alien life forms use Apple Macs. MS could never top that!
Tho if they did, it would make Jeff Goldblum's job a lot easier.
I can see the next ms.blaster worm that wipes your bios requireing you to replace the ROM
... but that's another story ... :)
This has already happened!

Divx *is* MPEG-4. At least one implementation of it. As far as I'm aware, so is Windows Media's video.
Divx isn't even that good a MPEG-4 codec. XVID is somewhat better, and it's free.
Two applications that do the exact same thing. Most sane people would see that as pointless and redundant. It's a waste of resources.
Never put all your eggs in one basket.
the availability of RealONE ... is pointless and redundant
:)
Yes
aving two different applications, with individual libraries, for doing the exact same thing
Gasp! There are two media players! Shocking! Seriously tho, what's wrong with that? It gives people choice!!
If there ends up only being one way or program to do anything, then things start to resemble the way Microsoft do things.
gives results that the riaa hate like a few titles of briney, metallica, etc
Now there's something I can agree with the RIAA on. I to hate seeing search results with Britney or Metallica in them.
Not bad at all, these songs are getting better. Good work guys!! The bit that caught my attention was in the middle. Sounded like something Weird Al would make!

Not a big surprise for those who have followed the recent SCO misery
*crawls out from under a rock*
SCO? Who?
Why, when I see your sig ("+++"), do I want to respond with "OK"?
Not sure.
When you hear a high pitch tone, do you want to go "Kcshhhhhhhh"?
