Well, when one looks at completely laissez-faire, self-regulated industries, like drug trafficking or nigerian-style email scamming, one cannot help but wonder how ideal it would work as a form of goverment...
The "just came out" gay attention-seeking, tell-everybody-about-it phase is similar to the "linux user" attention-seeking, tell-everybody-about-it phase, which is also similar to the "born again christian" attention-seeking, tell-everybody-about-it phase.
When you have such a big change in your life, you want to advertise it to everybody... It's natural and if it happens to a friend of yours, you need to be patient while you wait for him/her to adjust to their new situation...
The young adventurer and his two mechanical servants follow Ben Kenobi into the smoke-filled cantina. The murky, moldy den is filled with a startling array of weird and exotic alien creatures and monsters at the long metallic bar. At first the sight is horrifying. One-eyed, thousand-eyed, slimy, furry, scaly, tentacled, and clawed creatures huddle over drinks. Ben moves to an empty spot at the bar near a group of repulsive but human scum. A huge, rough-looking Bartender stops Luke and the robots.
BARTENDER
We don't serve their kind here!
Luke still recovering from the shock of seeing so many outlandish creatures, doesn't quite catch the bartender's drift.
LUKE
What?
BARTENDER
Your droids. They'll have to wait outside.
We don't want them here.
Luke looks at old Ben, who is busy talking to one of the Galactic pirates. He notices several of the gruesome creatures along the bar are giving him a very unfriendly glare.
Luke pats Threepio on the shoulder.
LUKE
Listen, why don't you wait out by the speeder. We don't want any trouble.
THREEPIO
I heartily agree with you sir.
Threepio and his stubby partner go outside and most of the creatures at the bar go back to their drinks.
Older, privately-owned companies might still go for the second option you mentioned, but sadly, it is much less popular in public companies when an Executive's worth is measured exclusively by his latest quarterly report.
Still, many companies should learn that mantaining employee good will and loyalty is a worthy endeavor
Do you think that the rest of the people working with this woman felt proud of their company when they see that they fire a coworker just after a traumatic even like a miscarriage?
Tourists are generally safe in CancÃn, Cozumel, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, etc... Even criminals are aware that a 90% of the cashflow of the town comes from tourism, so they avoid harrasing tourists and target wealthy locals instead
Now, in Tijuana, JuÃrez, Mexicali and other border towns, I agree that gringos are fair game
Too bad they got greedy and managed to get accused of extortion... If it was me, I would have settled for giving a discount on the banner ads to those restaurants who gave me free lunches
Piracy may be grossly exaggerated, but also is a real problem.
I have yet to see any evidence of this. In fact, every serious study I've seen of the issue indicates that it's not only not a problem, but beneficial.
Minor quibble. Serious studies indicate that Internet downloads are not a problem and possibly beneficial.
On the other hand, people buying bootleg CDs in markets in third world countries are contributing to funding drug cartels and other organized crime people.
So I tell all of my buddies here in Mexico:
"Don't buy that 10 peso CD! I'll download it and burn it for you if you really want it!"
[sigh] There's another battery in the screen

[devil's advocate]
Go watch the movie "reefer madness" and you too will understand just how *evil* marijuana can be.
[/devil's advocate]
I heard somewhere that Stallman draws his twin katanas at the sight of Microsoft Lawyers with briefcases...
There is a book to help parents with that, titled "Heather has two mommies"
next excuse?

You can buy lifetime subscriptions (tied to the device, not you). (Amortize it among a long enough time, and it's a very good deal indeed IMHO.)
Just a clarification: This is not available in all countries...
Older, privately-owned companies might still go for the second option you mentioned, but sadly, it is much less popular in public companies when an Executive's worth is measured exclusively by his latest quarterly report.
My first website was a free webpage provided by TheGlobe.com
To my defense, I'll say I was 17 at the time
