Actually, this is a point of contention between me and my wife... Ocassionally, when Im on the computer she wants to check her hotmail email or stuff, and becomes angry when I tell her she cannot login into Pidgin unless she does it from her own user account.
"But MSN in Windows allows you to sign out and sign in again with a different username!" She says
"Yeah, but UNIX has a different philosophy, every user should have its own desktop and its own settings!"
"Why? You and all your Linux friends are a bunch of paranoid idiots! What's the point of so many passwords? Who do you think is going to try to hack you?"
"[sigh] You can then reboot into windows when I'm done with this..."
The WHOLE point is that the US props up those corrupt governments and quickly starts aiding the opponents of any government that does not bow to US policy.
The whole reason those countries remain banana republics is because it is in the US best interests that they do so...
Why do you have to pay twice as much for the fair-trade coffee at your coffee shop? Because fair trade coffee is just a way for the consumer to say "I'm willing to pay more money to get nothing."
More like "I'm willing to pay more money to get the warm fuzzy feeling of making a third world kid get paid 3 dollars a day instead of 2"
"In broader usage the charge of Neocolonialism has been leveled at powerful countries and transnational economic institutions who involve themseleves the affairs of less powerful countries. In this sense, "Neo"colonialism implies a form of contemporary, economic Imperialism: that powerful nations behave like colonial powers, and that this behavior is likened to colonialism in a post-colonial world.
In lieu of direct military-political control, neocolonialist powers are said to employ financial, and trade policies to dominate less powerful countries. Those who subscribe to the concept maintain this amounts to a de facto control over less powerful nations (see Immanuel Wallerstein's World Systems Theory).
Both previous colonizing states and other powerful economic states maintain a continuing presence in the economies of former colonies, especially where it concerns raw materials. Stronger nations are thus charged with interfering in the governance and economics of weaker nations to maintain the flow of such material, at prices and under conditions which unduly benefit developed nations and trans-national corporations."
What I meant is that you don't actually need to invade a country militarily anymore to control it.
Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama, Colombia, Chile, and a long list of other countries have been manipulated, bribed, coerced and intervened into following US policy for the last 100 years
Yeah, but in real football players knock their heads together by accident (usually in a corner kick), they don't do it on purpose on every single play like in American football
I wouldn't be surprised if the next government economic stimulus act funds "Ben Hur" style Roman warship battles in the Washington Monument Reflecting pool. With free bread for the spectators.

See also Singapore, which also has very low crime rates, but I wouldn't want to live there...
Has someone tried to tell them that Jesus' first recorded miracle was turning water into wine so that the party wouldn't stop?
Since I've started this morbid discussion let's take it another level: What would you want for your last meal? ;)
The last ever pigeon on earth, roasted.
That reminds me of a scene in "A Game of Thrones" (paraphrased):
-"How would you like to die?" says the savage warrior, lifting his axe
-"In my bed, with a whore, at the age of eighty!"
Maybe we should reintroduce the custom of paying a gratuity to the executioner to ensure a quick and painless death...

Really? I thought it was a hat...
Windows Starter is quickly deleted and substituted for Pirated Ultimate in third world countries, so it's useless.
Sincerely,
A third world /. whiner (running Linux since 1999)

At least if I don't like Fedora, I can switch to Ubuntu (or SUSE or Mandriva, or Gentoo) for free
MS doesn't give you that option

What about a Free PDF writer for Windows?
Other than installing OpenOffice.org, I mean...
TRIPLE FLAMEBAIT: If you are feeling mischievous and really want to drive a snob up a wall, ask for this refreshing drink:
Calimocho
In a tall glass with one or two ice cubes, fill half with coca-cola, half with red wine
The coke softens the acidic tang of the red wine and the wine dilutes the oversweetness of the coke. Its like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!
There were some very bad mistakes made... 4.0 should have been named 3.99
Sincerely,
A KDE fan
This page: http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-4.2 has the install instructions for Kubuntu
...I stopped using Debian when it was still called "Potato"
Only one way to find out: I am installing the .debs tonight

Tai-chi and Bagua are also good martial arts options that won't wreck your body...
Bravo!
I managed to get a Wii this year, but for the life of me I can't find a RockBand box for it in my area... Everywhere I go, they tell me its sold out
There is a saying in Spanish, which translated says:
