  5. it needs to be said on WiFi Lifeline For Nepal's Farmers · · Score: 1

It needs to be said that this might not last long now. Communists who are ravaging our country have destroyed most of the communication infrastructure (telephone, radio, tv towers etc). I suppose it was ok while it was under the radar, but these people will now be targeted. The Maoists have a lot of support among college kids in the US (I am sure there are a few on slashdot as well). The fact that it was on the BBC, here and probably countless other sites does not help. While it is nice to talk about these things, the media should be careful when publicising some things particularly when dealing with the saftey of the people involved.

There was the pump and LA lights but by far the coolest and best feeling ones were Nike Air. Amuasingly enough some of the patents on AIR expired in 1997. So there could be competetiors using it now as well. AIR was really cool becasue of the science that went into the "AIR" (molecular weight of gases) and the nature of the container (semi permeable to real air.. which made it inflate itsef..sorta)..

"People need to learn if you don't like DRM then don't buy products that use them"

This is of course assuming that people dont like DRM. Frankly speaking, the vast majority of people posting on /. are not a good indicator of public opinion. Take for example the itunes music store. It is quite fair, most people like it, i like it, then there are those who hate it blindly. I think making unlimited CDs, putting on unlimited ipods and sharing with 5 friends is good enough for me. DRM is the only way content owners will allow stuff online. That is a fact. Most people want this stuff and the owners want to make money for things they produced. Thus DRM is here to stay. Instead of saying reject all DRM i think we shoudl reject DRM that is not fair.
