    You don't need to take the SAME laptop, and also have the option to store personal stuffs on removable media.
    I certainly wouldn't mix work and personal computers. That's just creating a "data loss multiplier" when the thing breaks or gets stolen...

    If I need a tool for a job, the job pays for it one way or the other.

    There is a surprising amount of industry in the US, but it doesn't get publicity. If you are willing to do skilled manual labor there are plenty of jobs for pipe weldors and other metal fabricators that cannot be outsourced. Caterpillar sells plenty of generators overseas too.

    The American worker needs to become competitive and that means aggressively seeking education and job-specific skills. It is our duty to OURSELVES to be adaptive, multi-skilled, inquisitive, self-teaching, and to hustle for work. People who refuse to do that deserve what they get. Our competitors aren't doing anything we cannot CHOOSE to do.

    As for any "green" obstacles, vote and organize others to vote. Don't forget to vote against the "oilgarchy" who are a MUCH bigger obstacle than the "greenies" they blame-shift onto!

    Why are you "sure" of that?

    Most of the materials are obvious (metal, plastic, printed circuit board, battery) so unless there is Something Very Bad cunningly hidden is it's robo-guts, it's no worse than chucking a PC over the side. One shipwreck would put more material on the sea bed than the entire likely robo-fish production.

    Boot a live Linux CD such as Knoppix and see if it works. It's a handy way to swap OS for testing.

    Time to get in the VAs posterior and reattack with help. The basic limbs available after 1992 were probably the standard muscle-actuated "hook"-like clamps. Things being different now it would be worth pursuing.
    Unfortunately the VA isn't going to seek out older folks to give them upgrades, so that's up to the individual and his veterans organization rep. Don't even think about pursuing it alone. The DAV for example has many experienced folks with system knowledge and human networks gained over years of interaction with Uncle Sugar.

    That sort of thing is required to counter enemy cultures such as Islam. It isn't pretty, but Islam is far worse.
    Australia belongs to Australians. They have every right not to welcome those who would change it into the Middle East.

    I'm a vet and I smell trollage. "name of our country" - WTF?? Branch of service would do for a start.

    No private carrier would even be involved with a combat injury, and actual denial of care would be grounds
    for calling up the VA chain of command with a parallel chat with local and state elected officials. The VA has
    screwed up but there are plenty of folks willing to raise a stink in behalf of a legit claim. Join the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) for a start.

    Africans are responsible for Africa, and results vary by country. Adults who reject modern science and prefer different AIDS "cures" (such as sex with a child or virgin) will make choices that have consequences...
