Well said. It boils my blood when people rip in to actors for poor acting, particularly when they are criticising the actor's trademark style or methodology. Rather than saying "Bill Shatner can't act", how about thinking, "This is who James T. Kirk is. This is what he would act like if he were really James T. Kirk".
As for the changes, TOS was not about the effects. TOS was story/character/social commentary driven. I've already got TOS on DVD, so I won't be buying them. I'd imagine most of those in the market for TOS on DVD will have already bought them as well. I doubt anyone who wants them would have gone "Y'know. I'd like to buy TOS on DVD, but the effects are a real let down". It's all about the money.
I would highly recommend considering a second hand printer. By that I mean something like a printer that is ex-lease, and may have only been running for a few years. In New Zealand I'd source something like this from TradeMe. I guess in the US you might look somewhere like eBay.
I was impressed how smoothly the online NZ census worked. I used Firefox and had by wife use IE. It was quick, easy and worked flawlessly. The Aussies will stuff theirs up though...:-P
WPA plus authentication with Active Directory. These (Looooong) instructions didn't even work. As for "writing my own drivers", do you see the work developer written on my head anywhere? No you do not.
I can't believe people keep deluding themselves that Linux is ready for mainstream PC users migrating from Windows. It's not. It's just not! Please stop deluding yourselves. It may be some day, but right now, it's just not!
There are so many articles like "My solution for my family's Windoze box getting pwned in five seconds. I give them Linux". The subheading for these articles should be "I get lots of phone calls from my family because they can't remember what the application is called to do XYZ". It has been said many times, but I'll reiterate. Don't run with admin rights under Windows if you don't have to, and run Firefox.
Don't get me wrong. I'm enjoying (For the most part) playing with Ubuntu and SLED. But I'm positively tired to death of how much time I spend reading wikis and googling for answers when things don't work as expected.
How many stories do I need to read on Slashdot, Digg, Fark, Google News, Wikipedia about things like this before people start doing something about things like this?
If all you're doing is sitting here on Slashdot bitching about it, shame on you. If it's so important, get off your arse and do something about it.
The following is simply my opinion, so don't flame me for it, cause I'm allowed to have it...
IMHP/experience is comes down to this. Nerds like magic. Geeks like tech. Nerds don't have social skills (And spend their time playing Everquest/Wow). Geeks have (In some cases) people skills and hang out with real people.
Too right. I've just not been able to justify the costs of licensing ESX Server vs. VMWare Server or MS Virtual Server, even though one is comparing apples with oranges. Personally, I think VMWare is price gouging on ESX Server, but others seem to say they are simply making hay while the sun shines. Their product certainly does have a 'limited' future with virtualisation build in to the hardware coming from Intel and AMD.

How many of you 'acquired'?
Ummm...I'm afraid I can't tell if this AC is serious or not...@_@
I saw that coming, and I still LOL'd...
Time to start using those Sony share certificates for wallpaper...:-) Kinda like the German Papiermark during the 1920's...
ZOMGUSEUBUNTU! :-) Oh wait. This isn't digg?
Note, this is not a troll, so don't mark it as such.
Not "inferior". Just 'gullible'.
Unless it's a 24 hour clock...:-)
Thanks for asking.

Hardly. I march when there is something I support, and I've been involved with organising a march once.
:-P
I write to my MP to tell them when they're being a dork, and have even had them agree on occasion.
I've been involved with preparing information to go before Select Committees for two associations I belong two.
I attend meetings for the political party of which I am a member.

Did someone empty the tubes? Must have been the race horses...
...but it's Linux!

Careful. Anyone caught by a Yank caring about someone other than themselves will be labelled a "Commie". :-)
Don't mod this a troll as I speak from experience.
Now give me your Jew gold!
