You should probably consider size as one of the main factors, along with ease of use. A big screen is pretty important when you get far-sighted with age.
At some point in the future photosynth-style image matching could be combined with streetview images to locate a photograph without the need for GPS info.
Simlarly, I expect 'search by face' to become more of an issue than being tagged in a Facebook photo.

Which is funny, because watching streaming shows I get forced to watch ads, watching broadcast TV is done through TiVo and I have complete control, to the extent that I can click through the ads and then easily transfer the shows to PC, iPod or whatever I want.

I used to store backups on floppy, then CD, DVD, removable HDs (storing some away from home).

The point is that I have a set of directories that migrate from medium to medium as as appropriate for the time.
