Nevertheless, I've already got an iPod and probably wont be buying any RCA lyra's (or lycra fo that matter).

As others have mentioned iTunes relys on an API that is not available under GNUStep. Additionally, even if iTunes was Cocoa, and could thus be compiled using GNUStep, it would have to be recompiled to do so, AND for each architecture it ran on. iTunes is NOT open source, only Apple could recompile it. Many people misunderstand GNUStep, believing it is some form of Cocoa emulator and can run binaries built on a mac with cocoa, it cant. GNUStep is a reimplimentation (and an imcomplete one) of Cocoa and apps have to be built with GNUStep in mind.

If CVS could get away with paying some shmo with an associates degree in Pharmacy Tech to run their pharmacy for $21k per year, they would. The law says they cant so they have to pay someone with a more specialized degree to do it. Most pharmacists have a BS in pharmacy however, most degrees being offered today are PharmD's which is a "Doctorate" in pharmacy. The difference is an extra year of clinical training. I dont think any states require a PharmD for licensing but they may eventually. A regular BS if pharmacy is a 5 year program, but most BS's end up being 5 years anyway.

The same stores were selling pop diva's new albums for $15.99 as a loss leader to attract Bratz... But I dont like Britney or Avril or any of the other divas.

As for good music... Theres plenty of good stuff on iTMS. My favorite, The Pixies, who were never anything other than a critical success, are well represented, as is Frank Black, their former lead singer. In fact Frank Black just released a new EP exclusive to iTMS. I like the Chieftains too... safe to say they've never been on ClearChannel's playlist, but theres scads of cheiftains stuff on iTMS, and its good too.

BTW, as one who has bought quite a few CD's, once you get away from the major labels, theres NO guarantee the CD you buy is going to sound very good from an audio standpoint. If the recording sucks the CD will sound like shit too.
