actually i see it more as idealism trying to build a wall against reality. the reality is that patents promote greed not science/knowledge/research, and the reality that people really can come up with the same idea in the same context without ever knowing about the other person's work. (!shock!)
you call my suggestion that they reverse engineered an open licensed software product wrong, then go on to imply that without an open source license, something cannot be legally reverse engineered. eh?
By looking at the code in effort to improve/change/update/copy/make programs using BSD, arent you inherently reverse engineering, its just extra convenient cuz they allow full access to all the bits and pieces? think outside that copyright infringment box you seem to be living in.
The iPod is hardware and is legally reverse engineerable. regardless of what apple may have 'licensed' the iPod software as, in my own damn experience I didn't have to agree to any apple agreement to plug it into my box and start using it, and I could've avoided even using the default ipod playback software.
1.) one could say that apple 'reverse engineered' BSD to hack in the entire OSX interface. so screw apple if they have a complaint about someone else building off their work.
2.) you can buy a used ipod, no software agreement packaging there.
3.) you can open and use an ipod without ever looking at any 'agreement' as i myself did. i just opened the box, yanked out the pod, plugged the damn thing in and started using it as a hard drive, then installed ephpod to organize music. without EVER touching itunes or any accompanying software/license stuff.
No doubt, Kerry is the worst kind of candidate there is, but Bush is still the worst kind of President there is.
I'd rather give Kerry a chance to f-k it up in his own special way than let Bush to CONTINUE f-king it up in his spectacularly inept, lack of statesmanship, idiotic, 3 year old finger pointing way.
you're average blogger doesnt-know-shit about databases and how to back them up, they got their blog script running and dont want to touch anything as long as its work. the point, outside the ability to back things up, is that he is being an outright jackass about it all, after running a community service for so long then "suddenly" deciding he was too broke to continue it and shutting it down without notice.
how long until full fps style interaction with firewalls? this is the beginning of a Shadowrun-like matrix net where audio and visual become a big part of hacking
its like setting up a community service to help people store books, then one day without notice saying 'fuck you all, ive lost too much money on this' and chaining the doors and openly telling people they have to kiss your ass and not ever complain if they want you to bring their books outside for them. at a future date. maybe. because your an asshole.
that about sums it all up, and i even read all articles/blogs/links/bullshit.
the interface point is moot, i prefer the winrar interface, but all i ever end up using is the right click menus and 7zip has the nifty pause button and i dont have to spend money to use it. ergo, 7-zip is teh win.
Actually, once you've generated it and it puts out more than it received, you can recycle the process indefinitely. then its a matter of harnessing the output effeciently AND saving enough of the overage to eventually set a second chain of lasers firing, then in a few years the power output will grow exponentially and poof, free energy, mass space exploration, colonization, pure research civilization, galactic domination, intergalactic war with insect race, universal domination, peace and love and enlightenment, fin.
its kinda like putting a million bucks in the bank and living off the interest, but also putting aside enough of the interest to increase your returns.
I agree completely. Comedy central was the MAIN channel I watch on my Dish Network box. I'm pondering a ComCrap subscription until I get it back.
as to the low cost b-s, i pay $90/month for all the channels i can stand, but comedy central is still the single most watched channel (followed by sci fi, cnn, cspan

I voted for Nader in 2000 and a lot of good that shit did. Dems are still blaming me.

an older vlc was very crash prone but the latest runs fine
an 80lbs server case chucked at your head is a pretty decent weapon.

read Redemption Ark by Alastair Reynolds and its accompanying series of books. The wolves/Inhibitors are the end product of this technology.
solar. and then when we block out the sun, humans.
sheesh, am i the only making that matrix connection?
yeah but it cant suck any less to live in that state of Fox News you seem to be in.
cheers.
not to nitpick someone who is trying not to nitpick, but shouldn't the sun blowing up in the future be "The end is bright"?
cheers.
im so lame.
for shizzle.
oh for a sec i though you were talking about a mossberg shotgun and got nostalgic for the specialists half life mod.

no b/c you already have 192 lasers to shoot them with.
If you are so naive to believe that there isnt any difference between a democrat and a republican, go back in your cave.

My privacy is not for sale and noone should be allowed to blackmail me to keep it.
one could always work at autozone, they run linux! ;)
I tend to watch those channels as well, but the main reason I ever watch tv these days is Jon Stewart, Dave Chappelle, and Dave Attel.
