A new addition to the opening sequence in which Bilbo provides background on Hobbits and their history in voice-over as he writes his memoirs.
A new introduction to Samwise Gamgee, seen in his capacity as a gardener.
A scene taking place at the Green Dragon Inn, which introduces us to the camaraderie of the Hobbits (we see them singing together) and sets up the geopolitics of the story.
The Hobbits witnessing the departure of the Elves from Middle Earth on the way to Bree.
Aragorn watching over the sleeping Hobbits, singing the ballad of Beren and Luthien to himself in the night.
Aragorn at his mother's grave, in which we learn that he was raised by Elves and that Sauron has long hunted him.
Two new moments during the departure from Rivendale, one in which we see Arwen's emotional reaction to Aragorn's leaving, and another in which Elrond sees the Fellowship off.
A scene with the Fellowship in the mines of Moria, in which we learn how the Dwarves themselves unleashed the fire-demon that eventually destroyed them.
A scene at Lothlorien, where Galadriel bestows upon each of the Fellowship a gift which will play an important role later in the Trilogy.
And finally, more footage of the battle at Amon Hen. This is not particularly bloody footage, but its addition will likely result in this cut of the film receiving an R-rating.

The way I read it was the alien took the reciprocal of this position number and marked it on a rod that has a value from 0 to 1. The rod could then be 'decoded' and all of the knowledge gained could be read.

For $10 a month you get 60,000+ newsgroups and fast downloads. I've used it and the only complaint anyone might have is the 500MB per-day cap. But, of course, the more you pay the higher the cap.

Any idea where I can get more info on Fox's EDTV? I've looked on fox.com but they're site is not to friendly for searching. Are all of Fox's EDTV shows in widescreen?

"Dark Angel" is a good show but I worry about it moving to Friday. I can't think of any FOX show in recent times that has survived a move to Friday nights.

Actually it seems any cell phone fits this and they were around before 1987. Seems to me everytime I make a call on my cell it is a transaction between me and Cingular and my Nokia is pretty portable.
Simple, If companies were to sue to prevent people from ripping CDs they own then they would most likely lose the suit on the grounds that ripping a CD for personal use is legal under the Supreme Court's BetaMax "time-shifting/media-shifting" ruling. Every court case lost by the recording indusrty would rip another hole in the DMCA eventually leading to it being ruled (rightly so) unconstitutional.
The recording industry doesn't want to lose the DMCA this easily so they ignore the ripping programs.
(Assuming passage of the bill...hoping not)
All they have to do now is change the rules of fair use and they can have a field day seizing MP3 players and MD recorders.
A Pricewaterhouse Coopers survey released to USA Today Friday found that 75 per cent of
U.S. music downloaders said they would stop downloading free music if they had to pay.
Seems to me that logically 100% of people would stop downloading free music if they had to pay.
Now we'll have region coding for web content. What will this lead to? Not being able to buy DVDs from amazon.co.uk because I don't live in region 2?
Maybe even companies blocking access to countries that don't recognize thier copyright, or any country that doesn't fall under the DMCA (i.e. all of them except US).
Hate to break it to you but if you check out www.rxlist.com you'll find that doctors and scientists don't really know how a lot of drugs work.

On the contrary, It takes a very good actor to act retarded in a believable fashion
Amazon.co.uk has had Quicksilver in their data base for a year now. I'd want more info then just a pre-order from Amazon.

Speaking of Avatars, don't forget about SnowCrash published in '92.
