Today we have robot's that scape. We already have computers that
ask is they are human! Technology is wonderful, but unfortunatelly only a few can understand what is so special about a fleeing robot (everyone here can, I guess).
Geez, we are playing as Gods, creating and tunning something that may someday, search for the reasons of its own existence!
And if you ask me if we are to be damned, I'll tell you that the objective of live is to learn, and no knowledge is forbidden.
The release of Mozilla 1.0 is reason for great rejoice for the community (including, but not limited to the OpenSource one). But this release did take too long, and honestly, I didn't believe it would ever come to life. The Mozilla Project had difficult days and many drawbacks.
Fortunatelly, as says a Brazilian quote: "Everything ends well. If it is not well, then it's not the end, yet"..
It's good to see the next step taken so quickly, and I hope it never get stuck again. I'm proud to say that "I use Mozilla v1.0"!.
Allright, let's face it: IE is a browser that eats 1.5GB of harddisk, but it comes with mail, chat, conference, clock, disk formating utility, file browser, calculator, fax service, etc.
And it runs MSOffice, ACAD, CorelDRAW, and other apps!!! (Probably as plugins, of course...)
Scenario 1: my friend washed his motherboard. You know, spiderwebs, dust, all that little nasty things that live peacefully inside our everyday working tools. The worst: it worked again. Aparently he gave it enough time to dry, and where we live the humidity of the air makes the static discharges a minor problem. I wonder if it became more stable (after a "clean install").
Scenario 2: another friend, who works for a computer company had a uncommon support request: a flood 2 years ago in our city left 10 machines underwater. The major problem was not the water itself, but the sand and other debris. They recovered 6 of the 10 machines.
From this point of view we can realize that Linux will NEVER have a serious tech-support. 99% (80% of the statistics are invented) of Linux users use apps that do not come with the regular distro, mainly RH based (but not compatible) packages. Alpha, beta, tarballs, alienized debian packages (and vice-versa)...
That's sad. Linux need standads, in order to offer basic support services.
You cannot fix a system if you don't know it. And open-source systems can be anything between a boot disk and a full critical application server.
I think I saw somewhere before posting it something like "Use the Preview Button! Check those URLs! Don't forget the http://!".
Or maybe I saw "You should have used the preview button" after posting...
We may think now (or not) but decades ago we all where a bunch of mindless cells. It is part of our growing learn the concepts of right and wrong, and somebody must teach us that: our parents, mainly
So, be under control of someone isn't bad, it is necessary, at least in the first years of life. Today people have much less time to take care of its children, I think is perfect to use the technology that took our time to gain some.
It is just a matter of being carefull about abusing the power, but I'm no father yet, so I don't give a &%$#@@. Maybe in 5-10 years...
As this seems to be the only post that is in the contest, here goes my bet:

Isn't this the Liar's day? Anyway.

because of my "piracy", at least a dozen musical groups' bottom lines were improved when I subsequently bought their CDs.
And this is the way things should follow. But the music industry, that could sell CD for less than U$5,00 keeps the price above the stars, since CD's started existing. Compact discs are cheaper to produce and record than cassetes! But industry would never lower the prices. What can I say about that? Well done! They are paying for their crimes. I really don't care if they break because of MP3, I would LOVE it!
I just fell sorry for the artists, that must be slaves of these thieves.
YES, we DO speak portuguese here in Brazil, but we do NOT use Babelfish to do that. You should try "Eu quero Juiz Dread EM português! Eu sou a lei!"
A question: if a damn simple translator used by half planet does not work 100% how could a "Electronic Judge" do it well? Thanks God we do not have lifetime/death senteces here!
And most people complain about coverage area...

(Now, for the the +1: Funny - Anyone believe we really have to fight against angels with giant robots?)

Go, Mozilla!
Hey! Now i realized that: has anyone tried an empty password?
C'mon, that's kinda possible...
Has anyone tried the birthdate of his wife?
I believe some moderators did that. Dude, this is getting worse every day...
"Great! Now tell me again that history about when you died".

No religion at all is about fights. But all religions at all are about theirselves. All of then are selfish. That creates fight.
Christianity is one of the worst, because it is probably the most spreaded religion in the world.
I say so because I was christian once.
Now I belong to the most peace-devoted religion: none.

Offtopic is OK, but Troll???
You're right.
The concept of "funny" has skyrocketed.
Next pool:
What is funny?
- Geek joke
- Comments in the SRC
- Dark jokes (WTC, Hyroshima/Nagasaki, Death of Ayrton Senna...)
- Cowboy Neal.

Indeed, Linux can't die, but is death the worst end? As immortal, Linux can still fall into oblivion as a zoombie: anyone said OS/2?
An OS that refuses to die, nor leaves the ICU, looks a very worse ending than a swift, elegant and remarkable death
I really don't believe in what this article says, although the death of Eazel was a great rollback, but KDE keeps going strong.
