I know its arguing semantics but I sincerely hope that you do believe in something cause if you don't than you are unable to make any assumptions making any scientist's job impossible.
So essentially you want children to learn from computer programs and not real people? I am sure that will cause problems of their own, such as children not being able to connect with their instructor. Otherwise, you can't have virtual small groups because a teacher can still only answer one question at a time.
...don't believe in the theory of evolution at least in principle? I know there are actual scientists who are skeptical of climate change but evolution?
http://www.drillpad.net/DP_IRL_MOI.htm Here you go, Lecture method is the best method for teaching lots of people quickly. Other methods are either slow or can only be done to really small groups.
Nobody is saying they aren't important, the difference is that pretty much all the highly skilled kinesiology majors become PE teachers. The same is not true for math and science majors.
The first thing we need to do to fix science education in this country is to pay math and science teachers more than the other teachers. Not only is it harder to get a science or math degree than it is to be a history major, but there are many more job opportunities for science and math majors beyond teaching. They are a more valuable commodity and should be treated as such.
Thank you for your idea, I also sent him a thank you. I also sent a letter to each of my senators asking them to be more like him when it comes to technological rights.
Won't somebody think of the children?!?! These people hacking the PS3 are just going to make our children turn to a life of crime - stealing viruses from the CDC, tricking themselves out to our robot overlords, wearing white after labor day...
But then maybe its not them playing video games but them focusing on all their attention onto something in which they form an attachment to. Maybe these same people, if they got addicted to gardening would also become depressed the more and more they gardened.
I agree, there may be no such thing as game addiction. It's just that they have an addictive personality and will latch onto something. If it wasn't video games it would be something else. Maybe its people that are prone to violence that draws them to video games and not the other way around.
According to my father-in-law who works at fermilab, they pretty much are focusing on the hunt for sterile neutrinos at the moment. They essentially are leaving the search for the higgs to LHC anyway.
If I come out with a press release saying that "Us KKK members killed hundreds of black people." I wouldn't be arrested right? I mean, I am saying I am part of a group that committed murder but that isn't enough to arrest me right?
...is why I don't buy music.
Why is the US constantly playing catch up with the rest of the world? Fastest computer? China. Fastest Train? China. Fastest Internet? Not here.

Actually no, there are no better methods of teaching on a mass scale.

Not saying I disagree with change and not saying this is what happened, but change for the sake of change is bad.
The year 2100 for Betelgeuse won't happen for another 700 years.

It was the wettest year on record. There you have it folks, Global Warming is an answer to our Fresh Water needs.

Isn't the correct term for something big enough to become a black hole a hypernova?
No, its the bullets that make holes in peoples bodies that kill them, ban bullets.
Mine grammar is bad upon thine ocular thing-a-ma-jigs.
Well I guess I better never say I want to be anonymous on the internet ever again...
If I come out with a press release saying that "Us KKK members killed hundreds of black people." I wouldn't be arrested right? I mean, I am saying I am part of a group that committed murder but that isn't enough to arrest me right?
So the only difference is identity being revealed? Doesn't sound all too much different to me.
