The tea baggers and other reichwingers don't care about respecting Boehner. He, or anyone for that matter, is incapable of earning their respect. As TrumpetPower! accurately stated, they have a single minded goal of removing a law. A law supported by the house, senate, signed by a re-elected President and upheld by the Supreme Court. They're crazy, immoral and elected due to gerrymandering of electoral districts.
It's not them who should respect Boehner, its Boehner who should bring options to a vote and show just how few jerks are holding this country hostage. Just because they happen to have an R- before their names, he won't. Ultimately where this will lead is the fracture of the Republican Party. Old rich white guys are no longer the majority in this country. Their ideology needs to move out of the way to more accurately represent what we the people are, want, and believe in.
I couldn't agree more. People raved about the puzzles. After about an hour of running around not knowing the context of anything, how to handle it, what to do with it, or why even it may or may not be important, the "new" scenery wore out and it just sucked. I couldn't complete any of the series without reading how-to's and that detracted from the spirit. Stopped being shiny really fast.
Facebook’s journey from college friends sharing ‘whaaas uuuupp’ deeds and photo’s, to billion dollar spy machine digesting your personal details neatly packaged and resold to marketers has been interesting.. To say the least.
Here’s the most telling story about facebook: 6 years ago my 12 year old daughter (at the time) got me off myspace to this new site her and her click were using called facebook. A new sites single genius innovation updated all your friends pages with your posts as you made them. This became the perfect medium for teen girls to stay in touch with each other to instantly know who had a crush on who, and what was the hot guy of the week.
Fast forward 6 years. My daughters statement to my this past week: “Dad, nobody uses facebook but old or ghetto people!”.
She still has an account, so she’s still counted as one of their “1 BILLION USERS”, but neither her nor her friends post or regularly check FB. She doesn’t even have the FB app installed on her smart phone.
Pay attention Zuckerberg, your spy machine has been labeled “old and ghetto”. Cash out now, your relevance is over.
With NC as the new Right wing GOP experiment, it may become a desolate wasteland of poverty, lizards, and ignorance... without all that pesky radiation.
"A deep mistrust of technical people".... That fear is prominent in many facets of American society.. The last American presidential debate all of the Republican candidates were on stage. The question was "Which ones of you believe in Creation"...Every single one raised their hands.
Republicans can't trust science because that would mean they have to accept global warming, fracking poisons land and causes earth quakes, the bible is a fable, the basic core tenants of Fox News fall apart. The only way to maintain their belief system is to attach scientists and make others suspicious of them.
No, it doesn't. Your thinking like a westerner. It simply doesn't work that way in the Middle East. Information is the enemy. If your found with the enemy you will be punished.
"Imagine living in a country where only 3.5 percent of the population " ------- have food to eat. The rest cook the scraps they can find with Camel sh*t and spend their day trying NOT to step on remnant land mines or getting be-headed for saying the wrong thing or NOT having their faces splashed with acid for wearing inappropriate clothing.
Sorry Charlie, but 'liking' Levi's isn't the days top priority.
It’s a 3rd world sh*t hole they have significantly bigger problems than internet. Anyone who thinks intent will solve the problems take a long hard look at Iran.

We still are left on a planet with finite resources... to support a theoretical infinite human population. Hugely poor plan.
If you look at the productivity of human endeavors, it's not the old and wise who develop who introduce breakthroughs - unfortunately the truth is that the young do it. I believe it's more a function of they're not contaminated by past failure. Virtually all great breakthroughs, with a very few exceptions, are from people under 40. That’s just reality. By increasing lifespan, you're not increasing highest productivity.
From a logistical stand point, what's being discussed – immortality – is something that the wealthy will pay for, and pay dearly, thus the poor can't afford.. since it’s a finite resource system, remember. The world isn’t nirvana, and people don’t give valuable shit away for free, and a large percentage of the population lives quite poorly when taken as a whole. By increasing the wealthy population, there’s less for the rest of us.
I don't see how the world is better by engineering the Walton family to live to 500 years of age.
eBooks’ major problem is the whole copyright crap - No sharing - the time honored tradition of a book club dies, being smothered by lawyers.
Book clubs become dens of iniquity full of felons - no different and receiving harsher treatment than a room of heroin users. Imagine the feds busting in on a room of suburbia moms discussing and sharing Harliquin romance novels. - We need movie. These very same book clubs that create best sellers are out lawed.
Selling my books back to the book store in college after the class in now impossible.
It’s so unbelievably short sighted it deserves to die painfully.
1) Need passwords... immediatly change them.Exiting person should have no futher access except through you.
2) Require exiting person to produce network diagram. Make it their last duty if one doesn't exist.
3) Now starts the pain... audit devices and systems for rogue accounts.
4) document as you go.
5) turn in passwords to supervisor.
Good Luck
Microsoft hasn't had a home run since he took over. They are no longer respected or innovators. They are corporate cronies with a sole mission of revenue maximization not giving a rats rump if you want or need the product.
This is like 4 years old. Blackberry within minutes of India shutting down RIM, and they capitulated to the Indian ministry of Information. One of the requirments was Indian Governement back door to all messaging...
At the time we thought... Oh, look at the evil Indian overlord Govt... all the while our Govt sh#t bags were doing the same to us...
Given religious attempts to eliminate prior âoeblasphemyâ, there is zero guarantee that some future (or current) religion wouldnâ(TM)t find our knowledge today, consider it witchcraft and destroy it.
We see Islam doing this today with precious historical artworks and technology from the past. It should be considered a crime against humanity.
As a fellow grayhair who just recently switched jobs - sell what you got.
Sell vision, dedication (You won’t be pulled away for screaming babies), experience, understanding of risk, that you've actually already done what they are trying to do (yes - research!). You are now less the doer and more the vizier.
Most importantly, sell confidence, without it you're toast.
Good luck
You can't really quantify "saved dollars" from an upgrade. The purpose of increasing efficiency is saving money. saving money is less people. You have to be able to show in real dollars how many people will go way if you invest in the upgrade. The answer is more often than not.. none. Thus there's no impetus to spend on the upgrade, it's just a capital cost.
What usually forces upgrades is things like regulations (ex: PCI requires updated systems and WInXP will soon no longer get upgrades)
and Vendors pushing upgrades for their purposes.
Often, updates involve more than just the software update. updating some system may require huge investments in ancillary systems as well to maintain compatibility that could require an entire infrastructure upgrade.
Is an accountant today running an Excel spreadsheet on Windows 7 any more "efficient" than an accountant in 1993 running Windows3.11 and Office 4.2? What gets done faster?
Monty needs to stop crying about what Oracle is / will do with MySQL. He sold MySQl walkng away with almost A BILLION DOLLARS!
If he cared that much, he wouldn't have sold.
If you're waiting for the general population to "wake up", "get it" and take this country back... good luck.
Everyone who's been in an abusive relationship will tell you "that's not how it started" - "They were really great in the beginning".
When a bad relationship finally ends horribly, you just can't imagine how it got as bad as it did.
It's no different with a Government. People's minds can justify just about anything with enough rationalization, especially when they've got TV to numb the brain, some food to eat and a roof over your head.
Watch youtube about traffic in Russia to get a glimpse of how far things can deteriorate - and we've got a long way to go.
Everyone is given the illusion of the American dream and it pacifies us just to enough to keep the water from boiling. Did you read the article about the fund manager who made 2.2 BILLION last year. WTF? 100 Million isn't enough anymore? Corporations are robbing us blind. The justice dept has yet to even prosecute 1 person for banks crushing the American economy and almost taking the world economy over the edge. Some nameless, faceless "Bank Incorporated" got fined and hand slapped, but not 1 single person, not 1 decision maker is held accountable. Ever.
This is the country we deserve by voting for the same parasites over and over again.
Either we realize there's sacrifice and work in life or we bury our heads in the sand and let it crash.
Maybe the crash is better. It's time for a complete do-over - too many are listening to the idiots at the microphone shaking their heads like toy puppies in the windshield.
I want to see signs of our humanity. Someone in power not driven by the need to stay in power.
I look in vain.
Ethanol has become the biggest boondoggle of our century. I live in a corn production State, and I have to say, the federal subsidy has got to go.
First problem – land prices. High production areas have reached the astounding prices of $15K per acre. That's 3 times higher than just a few years ago. Talk about a balloon waiting to bust.
Second problem – Game production. As a hunter, I can honestly say that wildlife has taken a dramatic turn for the worst. The farmers lust for corn wealth, former wetlands and game production areas have been slashed, burned and turned into field. There is very little cover or nesting area left.
Third problem – as more an more corn goes to produce ethanol, other products that rely on corn also compete for that commodity. Corn sweetener, corn feed, all have skyrocketed. So you and I pay huge prices for milk, cheese and meat... all courtesy of ethanol production.
Forth Problem – Wrecked vehicles. Cars require a minimum of 87 octane for both performance and running correctly. Ethanol is so corrosive, any vehicle not designed to run it will literally have it's internals melt out. The Governor of my state (South Dakota) has APPROVED 85 octane ethanol to increase ethanol consumption and benefit farmers. The problem is that 85 octane voids manufacturer warranties and is not compliant with federal standards. Again, you and I pay higher prices in automotive repair because of ethanol.
It's quite interesting to drive through corn country. New mansions have erupted from the prairies paid for courtesy of you and I. I have no problem with anyone making a living. I have a problem with subsidizing an occulant standard of living way beyond anything previously seen. Corn previously ran from 2-3 dollars per bushel. This year corn sold for $8 dollars per bushel with an average production of 130 bushels per acre. Considering a typical section 640 acres', that’s $600K + per acre in revenue. That explains all the new shiny vehicles and fancy motor homes beached along side these rural estates.
I thought the Republicans were against socialism. I can thing of no greater example of socialism than farm subsidies.
The new health care laws require anyone working 30 hours + per week to be offered health care. one of 2 things will happen - employers will slash hours to 29/wk, or they just quit offering health care. It's cheaper NOT to offer health care and just pay the fine.
Jobs are created in foreign countries because
1) THEY ARE CHEAPER!! Anyone remember when HP (under carly fiorina) fired 30,000 programmers who made an average of $75K per year and outsourced to India at $400 / month! Do the math!
2) Intellectual Property - China respects no IP laws. They take, steal, replicate and sell back to us and we look the other way.
also the parasitic nature of copyright trolls in the US is killing business innovation.
3) Environmental Laws - The US doesn't have or tolerate people bathing and washing clothes in rivers with decomposing dead bodies floating as a common occurrence, nor do we have community outhouses hanging over these public waterways like India. China is seeing a spike in illness because of large portions of the country have become toxic. We have laws that make manufacturing more expensive by not polluting.
4) Health Care - the rest of the WORLD has state health care. In the US companies flip the bill for a bloated, inefficient and horrible system. One that rates near the bottom of the industrial world and grows at 17% annually in cost.
Bottom line is it's not a talent shortage or education shortage. The above listed items create an unfair playing field that should - SHOULD - be balanced with tariffs.
Talking about amnesty or HB1’s will NOT solve the problems.
.

As someone who has been responsible for medium sized infrastructures – © 500 desktops - , as well as enterprise wide security, I will say I explicitly deny dropbox for all users. It’s a huge security hole. Without the ability to control, monitor, secure and most importantly log, it will never make it in the corporate environment.
