The mass of the earth cancels out, use slightly better estimates on the distances, reverse the ratio since we want moon:sun. Then the only mistake is that tidal forces are inversely proportional to the distance cubed. This gives us the expected result.

  9. Re:Piracy is theft. on Cutting Prices Is the Only Way To Stop Piracy · · Score: 1

Contrary to the /. spirit, I say that piracy is theft.

Dictionaries and courts have decided otherwise.

    theft

the act of stealing; the wrongful taking and carrying away of the personal goods or property of another; larceny.

What did they take away from you? Piracy is illegal but theft is the wrong word.

Courts have distinguished between copyright infringement and theft, holding, for instance, in the United States Supreme Court case Dowling v. United States (1985) that bootleg phonorecords did not constitute stolen property

Off-topic, but I ripped them as .iso which works great playing through VLC on my computer in my bedroom, do you know of a way to stream them to say an X-Box for out in the living room? Or would I need to convert them to some other file type?

This may be the case for many devices on AT&T other than the iPhone 4.

The average consumer likely doesn't realize that the iPhone 4 is not actually 4G. The article really should have stated this explicitly.

To most people, the article will read as "These other phones are supposed to be faster than the iPhone 4 because they are newer, but the iPhone 4 still rocks!"

Google is not filtering the results, they are blocking them. So if you type "bitt" the instant search shows nothing, but when you type "bitte" the instant search will show bittersweet, etc.

Is there any reason why they couldn't have just filtered the results so that "bitt" would show this instead of nothing at all?
