Yes, users are stupid. I worked at a small ISP, and they sold individual email accounts. I get a call one day from a lady that said she couldn't get her e-mail. After a good fifteen minutes of wrangling out exactly what the problem was it was discovered that she couldn't get logged in to her ISP. So, I direct her to call her ISP she gets all pissed off that I couldn't help her get her e-mail. It took another 15 minutes to get her to realize that she couldn't get her e-mail because she couldn't log on to her ISP in order to get connected to the internet. Even after all that she's like "Don't you guys talk to each other?" As if we all know each other, and share account details and such.
Perhaps it is a different market, but the concept here is basically the 'right of first sale', 2nd hand sales etc... not piracy. No, the car cannot be copied, but your right of reselling he car could very well be restricted.
Say a car manufacturer considered 2nd hand sales of it's cars to be theft, just as video game makers see 2nd hand sales of their games. So, you must register your vehicle with the manufacturer in order for it to continue to work beyond five minutes at a time with a ten minute 'cool down' period, the registration 'agreement' may or may not restrict you from reselling the car, and when it is registered the car is imprinted with some sort of bio signature that is unique to you... an imprint that cannot be changed without secret tools only the manufacturer has. So, after a few years you sell the car, and the new owner must pay the manufacturer MORE in order to drive it.
Why do you need a fire extinguisher? Poorly maintained extinguishers are dangerous, and I can't think of one place that doesn't have a fire department. You can rely on them just as you expect everyone to rely on the police department.
Nobody, no government, no police force, no army, neither nor neighbor, nor your friends can guarantee your safety. Only you can guarantee your safety, and the only way to do that is to insist on your right to self defense, and your right to carry arms for that defense. Bans on weapons do not increase your safety any more than a ban on fire extinguishers makes you any safer against fires. It all comes down to you, and those in your immediate vicinity. In a perfect world there wouldn't be a need for self defense, therefore no need for weapons. But, we don't live in a perfect world. We, you, me, your family, neighbors, co-workers, associates, etc... are just naked apes. Some of those apes wish to take what you have, harm you or your loves ones, your neighbors, etc... The police can't be right there to protect you, they cannot be everywhere all the time, and in some countries the police are as much a problem as the criminals. There's a saying that the police are minutes away when seconds count, and it's true. Usually all the police can do is damage control after the fact. Take depositions, gather evidence, call the coroner to come cart the body away. Safety is inherent on freedom. You cannot have one without the other. The freedom to carry arms, the freedom to use those arms if your safety is at immediate risk, and the freedom from prosecution/persecution if you're use of those arms has been ruled to be right and proper.
Any person in any country that thinks to limit the citizens right to bear arms wishes to limit the freedom, and personal safety of the citizens around them. They place everyone around them at a higher risk to their safety, and they should be dealt with either as someone would deal with ignorant children by educating them, openly chastised for being an ignorant adult, or outright given pariah status and treated as if they do not exist.
freedom the right and ability for self defense freedom freedom self defense OH, did I mention FREEDOM?
You, wherever you are at, are not any more enlightened, civilized, or intelligent than anybody in the United States. If you do not believe that you have an inherent right to self defense, and the right to bear arms which is part and parcel of the right to self defense then I'd say that you are less intelligent, less enlightened, and are actually an uncivilizing force in the world.
In case you have problems with reading comprhension, the greater majority of religious comparisons to $cientology involve Christianity. Personally, I think they are all idiotic, stupid, and have the potential for gross violence, but you don't see much comparison of $cientology with Islam because the evangelical atheists find it easier to do the comparison with Chrstianity because they are too afraid to publicly make the comparison with Islam. They do it that way because they are pussies, they are atheists of convenience rather than conviction, and it's just safer for them to do the Christianity comparison because if they did the Islamic, or Judaism comparison instant calls of racism tend to crop up. Ideologically, and scientifically, all religions are trash.
John Travolta just flew a bunch of them to Haiti. They prey on the weak, and weakened. They parade around with crosses on their clothing while having nothing in common with Christianity instead of wearing the $cientology symbol that is comprised of two triangles with a serpent connecting them, and the cross they wear is Aleister Crowley's crossed out cross which is a satanic symbol. Even when they Proselytize, they do it with underhanded means.
They have infiltrated government agencies such as the IRS in the United States, and have attempted to infiltrate the British government.
There is no comparison of them with main stream religions that hold up to the truth. It's stupid, and more ridiculous than the others. The people that point at Christianity, and say "They've done worse!" are either $cientology shills, or $cientology operatives. Nobody gives a flying fuck what happened hundreds of years ago, this is now, and dragging up past idiocy in an attempt to hand wave current idiocy is disingenuous at best, fraudulent at worst. It has more in common with the Peoples Temple than anything else.
CBS, and it's executives should be charged with theft by every person in their local jurisdiction that wants these recorded onto something more substantial. The material is in the public domain, and belongs to all of us as it is public property. We all own the rights, and CBS needs a good fucking for denying us our public property. That includes the tape it's recorded on since it is part and parcel of the program as it was recorded.
If... you don't mind being seen as a peon. I'd only agree to it if other departments had to wear some sort of uniform outfit also. Perhaps management could wear something with an embroidered bib since, evidently, they are drooling idiots. Tell em to fuck off.
That would be an asinine exercise. What would people do at this CD party? Bring CDs they own so they can destroy them? Purchase CDs so they can destroy them? It's ridiculous. Now, if they hijacked a trailer full of CDs, then destroyed those, I'd be impressed.
Well, all the Apple vs. Linux vs Windows pissing aside...
Star Wars Galaxies originally had a multitude of classes with 32 different subsets in each class. People could pick and choose according to their play style, and tailor the character to their individual needs. It was fantastic. Up untill they decided to pigeon hole players into archetype classes that resembled the main star wars characters, then the smart player base dried up. That's the whole crux of the matter right there... the smart players vs the dumb players. Unfortunately there are more dumb players than smart players, and every single game will always devolve to suit the dumb players.
I'm going to be be watching this with a big tub of popcorn, and a keg of beer beside me. It promises a huge amount of entertainment.
What gets me, and what will make this so amusing is that anybody that contributes any amount of code to a project can in essence hijack the whole copyright violation award leaving the other copyright holders with nothing. An entity later sued by another holder on that project can just point to the previous lawsuit and claim they already paid the damages for violation. The courts will just see it as a copyright violation settled, and stamp the whole shebang 'done'.
From the article... "Office 2003 users receive the error, "Unexpected error occurred. Please try again later or contact your system administrator,""
WTF? Is there anyone out there that can point me to an expected error? Can these wannabe programmer motherfuckers ever pass on real information on an error to the end user? Their error messages might as well say, "Our program fucked up, we're dipshits, we don't know what the fuck is going on. In fact, we couldn't have put together a crappier piece of software if we were drunk, or high."
Why don't we install camera's in Schmidt's house. After all, if he has nothing to hide, he doesn't have any privacy concerns. Perhaps we can stream his phone calls over the internet for all to listen to?
It all depends if the reader thinks of 'free' as in free beer, or free speech. But, that can be dependent on what the reader personally wants. Usually people want free beer, they couldn't give less of a shit about free speech. But, the same people that want everything to be free as in beer probably are downloading Britney Spears, Milty Cyrus, or Jonas Brothers music so what they think really doesn't matter. They will usually oppose the BSD/MIT license because it is not as viral as the GPL.
Yes, porn is the answer. Users will pay attention to error messages if there are tits and ass in them, or bait n tackle for the ladies.
Rule #1 is that the user is stupid.

I'm sure they checked out her laptop, and an officer discovered that she belonged to a rival guild in WoW.

I'm a computer guy, but I don't work on cars just because they have fucking computer engine control. I call a goddamn mechanic.
Printers are office equipment, and can be replaced cheaper than they can be fixed.
When you mature, you will find that you need a passion for life. Programming is a job, a job is not life.
Sounds more to me like a particular judge needs to pull his head out of his ass.
They could make it sting harder than that. Just stop offering sound samples for all ASCAP music.
Yes, but it looks like they used a different encapsulation protocol which would make it non-RFC compliant.
