I wonder if this isn't a side effect of a lot of the outsourcing to India that's happening. If a lot of the lower paid jobs (tech support and the like) are outsourced, what's left behind are the higher paying jobs which results in a higer average.
I tried to post the whois for the site as well as the whois for the IP that it's hosted on but gave up when/. said I had too many "junk" characters. Sheesh... here's a quick summary of the IP owner though:

Whatever happened to that lawsuit against hard drive manufacturers. It seems to me there was a group suing Maxtor, Samsung, etc. over this issue. Selling a "120GB" drive and it only having about 110GB of usable space. I did some googling but couldn't find anything.
I wonder exactly what makes a record false. My registrar provides (free) forwarding accounts. For example, the record for foundonp2p.com is showing D-23108frrb@usersa3.domainsatcost.ca right now, but within a week or so, it will change. The email is forwarded to my real address, so it is a legitmate address to email if you want to get a hold of me.
It may not affect your velocity... but have you ever ridden in a vehicle with an unbalanced tire? Depending how badly its off, the shaking can begin at 30+mph, and be unbearable at 60mph.
At any rate, I wouldn't think it would be a problem for VOIP providers to integrate with 911. They have the address of all their customers, seems like it would be trivial to have a 911 operator send out the request and an automated response would reply with the address.
I've done some work for a VOIP service provider. The way their system works, they don't know your current location. Sure, they know your home address, but with their setup, there's nothing to say I didn't take the box to my friends place, plug in to his high speed and make the call. This is why I like the service I worked on. The service comes with a little box (about the size of those home routers) that you plug your high speed into and a regular phone, and away you go. As long as you have high speed and clear access to the ports needed, the service works. Sure, your bill gets mailed to your home address, but that doesn't mean that's where your making the calls from.
As for a power outage, we had one recently and our cisco poe switches kept all the phones up
That may work in an office environment when the phones are hooked up to the switch, but what about at home, when your VOIP is over cable or phone line? No power, no dial tone.
Some other things to think about before switching completely over to VOIP... what happens during a power outage? You're POTS line will still work, but your VOIP probably won't, unless you are providing backup power. Not to mention your *11 services (411, 611, 911) may or may not work depending on your service provider. Also, even if they do not connect you, they may not be able to locate you. One of the best feature of 911 is the ability to locate the source of an incoming call in case the caller is unable to speak.
VOIP will, especially cellula service. At least once we get more wireless access points happening. Finally get some real point of prescence happening for voice, messaging, office access etc.
One other thing. I prefer VOIP services that offer a hardware box where I can plug a regular phone in. Especially since then I can use my cordles, or whatever handset I prefer. Even better if I wire it in when the phone line enters the house, then I don't change anything else, and every phone in the house in now VOIP
The question is, will they be able to release with these filings? I imagine Sierra/Vivendi/whoever will try to stop the release until they can decide if Valve can release under steam.
I think HL2 will be better than Doom 3 as well, if it is released in the next month or so. If we have to wait for the trial (March 2005) and everything to be sorted out and it doesn't get released until fall 2005, its not going to be better, because it will be a year later, when every other FPS has "caught up". Once again, politics and legal are going to cost both companies a lot of money, both in fees and lost revenue from upset fans, and the delay making the game less desirable.
No hyperthreading is hyperthreading. How the OS is written will make some difference, but HT is not some supper technology that makes slower processors act like faster ones. It just makes them a bit more efficient. Your better off going dual processors or to a faster processor. Of course, I'd agree with your last statment, go for the AMD64, according to everything I've read and heard, you won't regret it.
This is actually a fairly common viewpoint. And its a common way of limiting your viewpoint based on previous experience. Life must be carbon based, requires oxygen and water to survive. (I think there may be silicon life on earth near deep ocean vents, but I can't remember). Most people do this in there every day lives. Make assumptions based on the experiences they have lived through. Remeber the Earth was flat because it looked that way. The Sun orbits the Earth because it looks that way.
They used the phrases "tens of centimeters" and "tens of degrees celsius". I really hate these terms, especially in what should be a scientific article. This could mean anywhere from 20-100 (or more) which is a pretty broad range. Would it be so difficult to say 20-50 (or whatever the measurements are) which would give a much more accurate picture?
No kidding, that second paragraph (well, actually sentence) has high buzz word content yet actually only says, we do anti-spam. I have a feeling marketing and technical don't agree on much at this company.
The funny thing is, he probably wouldn't want it shipped that far. How far is it from Georgia to Washington D.C. anyways? Probably wouldn't bother with insurance either.
Um, your logic here is that its cheaper to hop on the space shuttle to fix the hubble than it is to fly to Antarctica? Of course you could be joking, but currently this comment is moderated as interesting.
I don't doubt it, but as you say its a short term "victory". If they paid once, they'll probably pay again. Repeat until they finally get some security. This is another situation where some up front investment (in security) will pay off in the long run, not to mention that actually protecting your customers data is the "right thing to do".
While counterstrike is probably the most popular mod, its probably one of my least favourite. I would highly reccommend Natural Selection which ads some RTS to the FPS elements. Science and Industry isn't bad, but doesn't have the atmosphere that NS does. DoD is a nice mod as well.
They've got nothing, everything they do is getting thrown out of court, so they're going to try and blame IBM for that too. It will be nice to tell our grandchildren about this company named SCO that tried to profit off of others work.

The black velvet curtains wouldn't be bad compared to the "volunteers" for all the body parts lying around throughout the game.

in hopes that it will be pointed down
Not to mention hoping that you catch it!
Actually, LAMP can also refer to PERL and Python as well as PHP.

but they do have a store. I want my liftport lunchbox! (http://www.cafepress.com/liftport.13005720)
The worst part is, this isn't a mistake. So, make note all, when naming your next OSS application, be sure to search for the title on IMDB first!

I don't think so Dave.
