Exactly... I'm trying to collect the funds necessary to put together a decent MythTV box (probably about $800 CDN is what I'm figuring ). All of a sudden I'm free of restrictions like this that may or may not pop up and instead I have a nice box, that I control, to record TV.

Thanks for the link, I actually found on somewhere else (MSN maybe?) that had similar questions and came to a similar result... I have a lot of the symptoms and should probably talk to a Medical/Mental Health Professional. I'm making an appointment with my doctor to find out. I'd much rather use therapy other than drugs to work through this as you mentioned. Its not a huge impact on my life, though some things, like being very restless when trying to watch TV, drives my wife nuts.

If I come home from work and don't occupy myself with something, I'll get tired and need a nap. If I find something to do for the evening (aside from watching TV) I'm active and energetic until about 1 am (I usually get up between 6:30am and 7:00am). After doing some reading, I've found there's a good chance I have ADHD to one degree or another. I'm awaiting a doctor's appointment to see if this is the case, not that it has a major impact on my life. I have suspicions that this thrive under stress and symptoms of ADHD are very related.

Precisely. P2P can be put to a lot of good use. A good example could have been the XP Service Pack 2. I know, it causes headaches for some applications, but it still needed to be distributed quickly to (millions?) of PCs, wouldn't P2P have been the best way to do this? I know MS didn't like the idea. Not to mention how many linux distros I've seen on torrent sites. Its a good thing if used correctly and within the bounds of copyright and such. Of course you also get people who don't realize what they're sharing... (see sig)

The problem with statistics is that they can often be made to say what you want. There was a recent advertisement around here that said 80% of accidents happen within a five mile radius of your home. The ad was pushing to use seatbelts even for a short trips. However, if 90% of driving is done within that same five mile radius, then your actually less likely to get in an accident then when your driving close to home. The message is still good, but the statistics may not actually support what the message is saying.

As a Canadian, I find American politics to be... disturbing. It seems most of the media is about politicians attacking each other rather than promoting themselves. Growing up in Canada I don't remember seeing this here, but lately its started to become the same thing here. Rather that promote their plans for the future, they basically take the stance of, well at least we're not doing what the other party is.
I'd rather see politicians telling us what there plan is rather than spending their air time making suggestions about who inhaled while they were in college.

And I agree with most of it, especially the point about taking a position and dending that. I did that a few times in both high school and university. Did well on some and failed on others. I tried to take positions that I did not agree with as it was more interesting to try and combat my own beliefs on an issue than to rehash a position so many others had done before. Now like I said, I didn't agree with the stance I took, I did it as a learning excercise, for example, I did one on heros and chose hitler. Now I did not try and defend the murder of countless jewish people, instead I looked at how Germany improved under his rule. I learned a lot about Hitler and his rise to power and some of the good things he did for Germany. Of course, the things he did wrong far outweighed the good, but it was a good way to learn something about our past. Everyone else in the class did somewhat easier things like Regan helping to bring down the Berlin wall and such.

Not long ago, we had a federal election in Canada, and this was a focus of some of the candidates, especially getting younger voters out. However, the discussion centered around voting and spoiling your ballot. I'm of the opinion that it is better to show up and spoil your ballot than not vote at all. I don't always vote for someone because often, its a case of "lesser of the evils" and I don't want to support any of them. However, I believe that spoiling my ballot may show the politicians that people are not happy with the choices available to them.
