    hell.. last time I installed debian i used 2 floppies and copied another 7 floppies worth of stuff off an fat32 partition.. who needs 6 cd's or a dvd or whatever when you got broadband..

    why not make some device based around an atari on a chip or a nes on a chip that used a portable cdrom or compact flash or something and just loaded roms.. that would cut the size of atari and nintendo portables in half since you wouldn't have to allow for the huge cart and you could have a whole lot more games that way..

    my friend lost a drive of mp3's one time and found a util which recovered the partitions, but it didn't support long file names. it was free tho. Just do a google search you should find some utils for free or cheap.

    Besides, if there are already good players available for linux, I doubt people would switch to a closed-source solution that does the exact same thing, unless it offered superior features of some kind

    Check out winamp3 sometime and you'll see why people will pick it over the opensource programs. The nullsoft team has put a lot of work in changing the codebase from the original winamp to the entirely new winamp3. Some of the new features include totally freeform skinning, and an advanced song database management system.

    what distro of linux do you use that automatically installs and configures drivers for new hardware upon booting? I've never been able to change hardware and still have X to work.

    Whereas in windows i can change 3/4ths of my hardware and reboot and everything will work..

    wwiv sucked.. ive set up just about all the bbs softwares that were available and wwiv, while the simplest and easiest to setup, had the least amount of features..

    am i the only one that thinks the layout and color of the old site look better than the one at alpha.themes.org?

    themes.org is cool.. i've been getting stuff from them even though they are officially not open or whatever, but it just seems to me the other site design worked better and was easier on the eyes..

    i wish i ran into people that thought such hardware was worthless or near worthless in real life.. as a college student i could really use a decent laptop.. esp considering your worthless laptop is about as good as my everyday desktop computer..

    maybe you should take up your concerns with dell and explain that unless they can give you reasonable explanations, you wont be dealing with them in the future.

    While this is a horrible act of terrorism, it is not another Pearl Harbor. I really wish people would stop saying it is. The attack of innocent women, children, and business people, is entirely different than the attack on a military base. Granted, both were unexpected, but attacks on military bases during war time are slightly less surprising that acts of terrorism involving hijacked 757's flying into the side of the World Trade Center and the Pentigon.

    As far as OS's go, Microsoft has always played catch-up in terms of technology. (Win95 was matching macintosh `84, for example)


    haha.. you are joking right? Mac's are just now gaining the ability to multitask with version X and they had to buy the technology off of next.

    Without the iPAQ or jornada, how can Pocket PC 2002 increase the already dwindling %10 of the marketshare it currently has?


    another joke right? pocketpc devices are selling out while palm devices set in warehouses. pocketpc devices are steadily gaining marketshare while palmos devices are declining rapidly, because like the mac, they are old technology that doesnt do as much stuff.
