    I dont care who pays, what is it called, or how much does it cost, as long as someone is gonna get a decent education(even if it is MS based). Some ppl cannot afford to go to college to have decent jobs, things like this at least give them the slightest chance.

    Now that doesnt mean i am a Gates fan, nor a MS fan for that matter, but you have to balance the matters here and diffrentiate between him personally, and his job.

    If this is a troll then prove it.

    I bought the new Metallica album (St. Anger), and guess what, it ruined my CD player(which was aactually a HIFI system). i tried to read it on my PC CD player. same thing. Now the funny part is that i took it to the music store, who actaully gave me a new copy, and told me this should work with out any problems!!!!(For fuck sake, what do you mean without any problems, its a DAMN CD)

    Luckily my HIFI was still under gurantee.

    out of curiosity I opened up their website, and I found a strange new concept of UI, where the links keep on disappearing and moving while you try to track them down to click them..hmm..

    Is it just me, or is this the first time i know this, and does any body have a clue what the HELL ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT.
    283 patents is a lot, the article gives u a feel that the whole of Linux is an infringment by itself. I think its a bluff, these facts are not straight, the numbers he says are totally uncovincing.

    Next thing i know is someone telling me "you loaded someting into memory, i patented that you bastard..."

    Well what do you know, i did exactly the same. In fact i sold the TV set with it too. You wanna know what happened, i suddenyl had this tremedous amount of time to use in reading, going to a gym, learning new stuff.. its beautiful. All of my mates wonder how am i living without a TV set, i tell them its a pleasure you would never know. I second this solution, out of experience.

    I for one have the Tissot T-Touch watch, reffered on /. before, and believe me, thats one hell of a watch. It was worth every penny.Has a built in comapss in it where the clock hands actually change to a comapss, so not to make the watch bulky, thermometer, barometer, altimeter, you name it.

    Besides dont forget that some ppl are just so fond of watches, they respect a good watch and wish to own it (just like some ppl are fond of cars, or HW).

    are you sure that no queries has been changed or indexes added?

    I mean i migrated more than one database to Oracle on Linux, the numbers you mention do not seem to be realistic, or the facts in the story are not complete. Thats me though, might be wrong.

    i believe that before doing that, the OSS community should reach a level of infulence to convince the big hardware makers to release their hardware as Linux compliant. Cause you can write a driver, and tomorrow morning the same harware vendor will release an upgrade thats gonna waste your few years effort down the drain.

    Was there some cultural aspect that you used to help you out or are Egyptians just dying to get Linux installed?

    I am an egyptian my self, and have been using using linux for the last 6 years or so (have been out of the country for almost a couple years though)....A great number of IT staff in Egy. belive in lunux, countires like Egypt need such an OS, they cannot afford costy licenses, espically that copyright laws are strongly enforced over there(ofcorse with the funding of MS and alike).

    Now that said, i still belive that an awarness campaign is highly needed for the rest of the IT community(espically IT decision makers) to realize linux, and to realize how fast its gaining ground.
    They only need to realize how good its going to do for their business and economy, and no i am not exagerating, our economy cannot withstand costy licenses from whomever.

    P.S: Egyptian ppl are known to be very hospitable, its in their culture

    like Microsoft, IBM, oracle, ....... would do such a thing, espically after that incident where MS forgot to renew their domain microsoft.co.uk, and the English guy registerd it for them, registering te domain for a 100 years would ensure no such thing would happpen in the near futuire :)

    actually such a service is not intended for individuals with personal web pages or small scale businesses.

    Actually guess what, with all the 24 million colors, and all the complexity taken out, some people just stand there wondering what to press next. I dont expect those to do :


    $ cd ~/pinnumber
    $ ./bank -fetch 100$ pinnumber
    $ ./bank -query account
    $ exit


    but at the same time i have to say that ATM machines are over complicated, slow, and they screw up big time (my card has been SWALLOWED by the machine on more than one occasion).

    Bottom line is that some one needs to make a new ATM solution that works, propably on an open source platform (is that secure enough, you tell me), and most impotrant is ...IT WORKS....
