I think this depends on what field and what state you live in. Chem majors can easily make that amount over summer as an intern but juggling an internship and school sounds rather stressful, especially if you don't live near either school or the organization/company.

  7. all signs points to "depends" on Is Going To an Elite College Worth the Cost? · · Score: 1

It really depends on what you want to major in. Some schools can teach you something better than others but if you're just going to be your own boss then there is no purpose to attend Harvard instead of a community college. Yeah, if your plan backfires then it would help to have a name to back you up, especially since you FAILED. However, if you plan on getting a chem engineering degree then you might want to graduate from Stanford or something. As far as reality is concerned, you just need to pay for college for 3-4 years and if you get accepted for grad school then you'll be making money and will easily be able to pay off your debt so long as you're not an idiot. But I think getting into grad school is proof enough that you're not entirely an idiot right?....right?

True, and if I were to rob someone's computer i would dismantle it almost immediately and get rid of any internal tracking units like a 3G antenna. This also poses the question "Why would you disable the computer if you can get that computer access to 3G network?" Just triangulate the approximate location and it'll be getting close to home base. This would also allow computers to easily connect to the net without an air card. There's nothing on Google stating that this is legit and all I can say is that /. got trolled again.

lol, that's a great joke. Wait, you were joking right?

Back on topic... I tried this thing a while back and it doesn't really do any good if people aren't experienced in the matter. Sure, they train you very briefly on what this and that may be but in reality, you'll not only get a bunch of people unable to properly identify things (and the human aspect for the professionals are still there), but you'll also get trolls. I would rather put my trust in an automated system designed by NASA and I do believe their project is doing well with that as it is. Will it be 2016 before they are done scanning the parts that they wanted to scan? Well, either way, machines make better computations with brightness than humans can these days and can do it at an insanely fast speed.

  21. gamers == readers on Why Video Game Movie Adaptations Need New Respect · · Score: 2

Readers generally dislike movie adaptations of the book such as a lot of the LOTR fans from the original trilogy didn't like the movie because it was better played in their mind. Gamers tend to have that higher standard as well, and they will always expect more from something that adapts from what they are used to. A game isn't built like a movie and when it is, it's called Final Fantasy 13... hah. Though, anyone seen the IGN april fools movie trailer of the legend of zelda? That looked like it had amazing potential and I would be stoked if peter jackson did a movie like that, but I'm sure he's pre-occupied with the hobbit 1 and 2.

In the end, it's not that they can't make movies into games or games into movies properly, it's just that they don't pick the right ones to adapt. I don't think a Halo movie would be that great but Parasite Eve? That might be just as decent as Resident Evil if you're a fan of the movies. Then again, Resident Evil is originally a novel, no? So there's a great example on how a novel has a decent movie trilogy and pretty fun games.
