This was the exact reason the League of Nations faltered and fell apart, not the only reason however.

The U.N seems to falter for a lot longer for a lot more reasons, corruption, lack of overall authority, too many layers of bureaucracy, not enough internal control.

How would the internet be improved through the regulation of the U.N?

We are talking about one of the most bloated organizations in the history of mankind. If the internet was to be regulated by the U.N things can only get more bloated, more layers of bureaucracy, more control in a U.N manner.

There will be rules, nobody would follow them. There will be structure, nobody would maintain it. There will be staff, nobody will control them.

The U.N form of bureaucracy does not fit well with an entity such an the internet, it is not a country, it is not a domain in which you can impose rules. It is best left in it's current state with further improvements open to a more multi-national forum.

No, no... the internet definately requires it's own independant international system, outside of real world politics, where proper decisions can be made with intelligence, and most importantly efficiency. The U.N cannot do any of this.

If this ever happens, the internet is doomed as we know it.

And in retrospect their lack of effort in previous IE releases encourged their competition to try hard.

If this really is about ethics, then it's a complete hypocrisy, ethics and business go together about as well as ethics and war.

If you consider yourself ethical, you lose more. More money, more men, more whatever. There is no place for ethics in a capitalist business world, and by disallowing some future capitalist crooks, Harvard has just made them more angry and in the long run they will be perfectly molded into the business world as a typical crook and common thief, deserving of no respect.

    Why is it Harvards fault?

They teach that ethics is important when in reality, it is money that matters in business and not much else more. If you think otherwise, you're kidding yourself.

They should have allowed the kids and given them a special class, for those that understand that ethics and business have no place together. Unless we were communist and everyone was treated the same whereas there's no motivation to succeed perhaps ethics could be a cornerstone of an economy like that. But in a cutthroat world of whos got the most money and who can take it from you, ethics is a small hurdle in a long marathon.

  24. Lack of Manpower on Canadian Government Going Big Brother? · · Score: 3, Interesting

Living in Canada in a rural area (even by Canadian terms) I rarely see a police car much less anyone who IDs for liquor, or strangers. I doubt a system of constantly watching rural areas for those terrorists that are terrorizing farms, would be financially feasible. I mean our government's party is called "Liberal" but that does not mean they are liberal enough to let a system, especially an independantly controlled one be set up for the government or private company usage.

Ever since the installment of the Patriot Act, Canadians had a sort of hushed wait for their version which came and never was really implemented. Due to the recent tragedy involving 4 shot mounties it appears to be the "Reichstag" in the unravelling of these "Big Brother" type surveillance and systems of control.

But in reality, atleast in Canada this system will not work because most Canadians on their own will spot any kind of thing going on, and with the lack of manpower they better start to invest trust in the common citizen rather than turn them against each other with idiotic ways of monitoring us all.

Since when was the citizen corrupt enough to warrant monitoring from the government?

Kind of like a group of criminals to watch over a public school.

We should be the ones with a Little Brother system monitoring the government, tattletailing every time they do something wrong..now if only we could convince someone to hand out punishment.
