  1. Flame wars? on The Secret Cause of Flame Wars · · Score: 1

    Ah...yes...flame-wars.

    That would be my fault.

Sorry everyone! I also would like to take this opportunity to apologize for cancer, blatant stupidity in traffic, the death of JFK, and the Cuban missile crisis.

I thank the F/OSS community's policy of full disclosure of vulnerabilities so they can be fixed sooner/faster. This is as opposed to other OS manufacturers' policy of concealment and FUD so said vulnerabilities and breaches DON'T get reported and a "patch" is released in their own sweet time.

  5. Virtually unlimited? on Feds Shut Down Elite Torrents · · Score: 0, Redundant

My good heavens! This internet thing is obviously in blatant violation of US Copyright law, and should be shut down immediately! It contains a selection of copyrighted works that could be described as virtually unlimited!

  8. My only complaint on Knoppix v3.4 Hits The Mirrors · · Score: 1

Is that BT downloads in general are incredibly slow, and, in the case of Knoppix 3.4, almost slow enough to be pointless. BUT I have a share rating of 1.93!

    I'm not throttling anything, either.

Don't get me wrong, I like BitTorrent as a filesharing app about as much as the next guy. I'm just a little peeved that in 1 hour 9 minutes, I've only managed to retrieve about 33 megs, whereas I've sent out over 65. This is on a cable connection.

Has anyone managed to find or set up a mirror for the actual ISO yet?

  9. Lawyer joke on So You Think Physics is Funny? · · Score: 1

Two divorce attorneys are walking down the street when they see a BEAUTIFUL blonde bombshell walking toward them. They both watched as she passed by, and once she was out of earshot one attorney turns to the other and says "Man, I'd love to screw her!" To which the other responds "Yeah? Out of what?"

  11. How very odd... on IBM DeskStar 75GXP Hard Drive Failures? · · Score: 1

I've had and used quite a few IBM hard drives, only one of which has ever failed on me - an old 4GB thing. I don't even remember the model number at this point, but it lasted a good three years. I currently use both a 45GB and a 60GB in my primary machine with no problems. They've been in the machine for over a year now. With the repetitive failures you're experiencing, maybe the probem's with the controller?
